About El Camichin Authentic Mexican & Seafood - steak house in West Covina, California
Customer Review Summary
El Camichin Authentic Mexican & Seafood has received mixed reviews from diners. Many patrons appreciate the vibrant atmosphere, generous portions, and delicious margaritas. A standout dish is the fish tacos, praised as the best by some. However, a recent visitor experienced poor service and undercooked fish tacos, which led to disappointment. Another guest noted tight seating and a need for more room, though service was acceptable. Some customers enjoy the intimate live music on Sundays but mention waits due to low staffing. While the food is often described as average, the warmth of the staff keeps some returning. Overall, while the restaurant has loyal fans, issues with service and food consistency have been noted.

I've been a loyal patron of El Camichin for some time, often enjoying their vibrant atmosphere and delicious meals. However, my recent visit was incredibly disappointing, and I feel compelled to share my experience. Upon arrival, we chose to sit outside, anticipating a pleasant evening. Unfortunately, the service was a letdown from the start. Our waiter displayed a dismissive attitude and seemed disinterested in engaging with us. We only saw him once, and it was the hostess who took our order and brought out the chips. We felt ignored and had to go inside to request the check, which was frustrating and made us feel excluded. The most disheartening aspect was the food. I ordered the fish tacos, a dish I’ve enjoyed many times before. This time, however, they were unseasoned and seemed undercooked, making me sick later. It was disappointing, especially since this dish has been a favorite of mine. The change in staff may have contributed to the poor service and food quality, but it’s no excuse for the exclusionary feeling we experienced. This was a stark contrast to the warm and welcoming service we usually receive. It saddens me to say that we won’t be returning to El Camichin. This recent visit tarnished our fond memories, and I hope they address these issues for the sake of their loyal customers.

Took the family for fish Friday. We ordered Talapia fried fish, Camarones al mojo de ajo, Costello de camaron and Enchiladas de mole. The Camarones needed a little more seasoning. Service was fine. But seating was very tight! Kept getting hit by people and chairs. They need to make more room.

The margaritas are so good, food is delicious (and their portions are abundant)

This place serves the absolute best fish tacos I've ever had in my life. The photo represents the aftermath of a straight max session as I neglected to take a before pic. Dog friendly and great service! My dog Daisy clearly wishes she could have had some (she'll get a treat later 🦴) 10/10 would recommend 🔥

Always a great place for delicious food! Been here many times, never had issue getting sat in a timely manner, mostly because we go on a Tuesday. Wish they had a Taco Tuesday, but even though they don't, still a great spot with lots of options and creative food made their own way!

When you step into El Camichin in Covina on a Sunday morning, you're immediately seduced by the sensual strumming of a live performer, his fingers dancing across the guitar strings as his velvety voice wraps you in Mexican melodies. It's an intimate, almost intoxicating experience that sets the mood perfectly. Even with the promise of pleasure awaiting, there's a bit of anticipation—a wait due to the low staff, despite the vacant tables. But sometimes, the best things come to those who wait. When we were finally seated, the staff, attentive and charming, quickly took our drink orders and brought them without delay. For my morning indulgence, I ordered a special off-menu item: regular chilaquiles, but topped with eggs and chorizo. The anticipation built, and when the plate arrived, it was a feast for the senses. The chilaquiles, dressed in a rich red sauce, mingled provocatively with the eggs and chorizo on top, accompanied by beans and savory potatoes. The chilaquiles and egg-chorizo combo was a symphony of flavors that danced on my tongue, each bite a delight. The beans, however, didn't quite hit the same high note for me, though that might just be personal taste. The potatoes were a savory complement, rounding out the meal perfectly. I've visited El Camichin a few times, and while the food is consistently average, it's the relationship with the staff that keeps me coming back. Their warmth and friendliness make every visit a pleasure. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend giving El Camichin a try. You might just find yourself seduced by the ambiance and the charm of this cozy little spot.

I ordered two mojarras and i paid 45.34 for them . They tasted good and were cooked well from all around . One more thing i loved the hand made tortillas mmmmmmm 😋 . The salsa and chips were my favorite never had salsa in that amazing flavor

First timer. Worst chili relleno. It was thick and eggy the chili itself was wilted and chewy. The best thing I had was an Al a cart Quesabirria taco . The birria was just like my grandmothers 11/10. Rice and beans were just as good . Service was great and food was out quick. This restaurant also offered outdoor dinning . They got space heaters for the cooler weather. Music and TV outside .
