I recently spent my birthday dining here & they offered not just incredible food but also a beautiful ambiance that made the experience truly memorable. We started with saffron tea, which was a revelation in itself. It had a soothing, aromatic quality that felt both refreshing and luxurious—a perfect way to ease into the meal. The pita bread was wonderfully fresh, soft on the outside, and paired beautifully with butter. The hummus was incredibly creamy and flavorful, with just the right amount of seasoning. The addition of pepper & olives gave it a delightful kick, making it a standout appetizer. Moving on to the mains, the joojeh kabab and chicken breast kabab were nothing short of perfection. Both were succulent, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The saffron rice served alongside had a distinct buttery flavor that complemented the kababs beautifully. The ambiance was the cherry on top. With its vintage decor and calming atmosphere, the space felt cozy yet elegant. The thoughtful design of the interiors, paired with the serene vibe, made it the ideal place to unwind and enjoy a hearty meal. In every way, this dining experience was a delightful combination of delicious food and a charming setting. Highly recommend it!

"We went to Chelokababi Persian Cuisine for Mother's day dinner, and the experience was absolutely delightful from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with elegant decor and a cozy atmosphere that made for a perfect setting to enjoy a hearty Persian meal. A bit of a line ahead of us though we got a spot as we had reserved one in advance. Parking can get a bit tight though if you wait it out a bit you can definitely grab a spot. We began with the Masto Mooseer, a creamy yogurt dip infused with finely chopped shallots. It was silky, tangy, and flavorful, perfectly complementing the freshly baked, warm lavash bread that was served alongside. This starter set the tone for the amazing dishes to come. The Middle Eastern Platter was a feast for the senses--a beautifully arranged assortment of appetizers, including falafel, hummus, and other traditional bites. Every item was fresh and bursting with flavor, offering a wonderful variety of textures and tastes. It was an ideal choice for sharing and a great introduction to the range of Middle Eastern flavors. For our main course, we ordered a mix of meat and vegetarian dishes, and every plate was exceptional: - Kabab Torsh: A true highlight of the evening! The tender chunks of beef were marinated in a tangy-sweet pomegranate molasses and walnut sauce, then grilled to perfection. The flavors were bold yet balanced, with a delightful smoky undertone from the grill. - Kabab Koobideh: This classic Persian dish of ground meat skewers was executed perfectly. The koobideh was juicy, well-seasoned, and tender, with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. Paired with the fragrant saffron rice, it was simple yet unforgettable. - Vegetarian Gheymeh with Bademjoon: This hearty eggplant stew was rich and deeply satisfying. The slow-cooked eggplant paired beautifully with the savory tomato-based sauce, creating a dish full of comforting, complex flavors. Even as a vegetarian option, it was as indulgent and filling as the meat dishes. The portions were generous, and every dish was served hot and fresh. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. They also took the time to explain the menu and offered great recommendations, which enhanced our dining experience. Chelokababi Persian Cuisine is a treasure for anyone who loves authentic Persian food. Each dish was prepared with care and showcased a deep understanding of traditional flavors and techniques. We highly recommend this place for a memorable meal and look forward to coming back to explore more of their menu. Whether you're a fan of Persian cuisine or trying it for the first time, Chelokababi will not disappoint!"
What you need to know!
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ Food: Iranian A pretty little Iranian restaurant in quite an obscure location. Friendly service but not prompt. A few things I didn’t like (listed below) but overall an enjoyable dining experience. It was very quiet on this visit and I imagine the atmosphere will change when it gets busier. Definitely need to review some of the menu offerings and offer more vegetarian options such as khoresht e bademjan without meat for example. And what’s with Iranian restaurants in the US not having tanoors baking fresh bread like everywhere in Europe instead serving tasteless pita bread and not even the decent puffy ones. That said the mahi was excellent. What I liked: • Very pretty decor • Delicious mahi (they served Salmon) • Generous portion size • Relatively good service if not a bit slap dash What I didn’t like: • Serving tasteless pita bread which is Arabic not Iranian with freezing cold rock hard butter. • Not serving half portions for lighter eaters • Samosas. There is no place for Indian Samosas on an Iranian menu! • High price point • Knives on the table instead of spoons. Who eats rice with a knife? Do I recommend going? YES Will I go again? YES Was it good value? MEH Price Point: $$

We tried the beef and lamb skewers and were really pleased. The food comes out in a timely manner and the service was pleasant. Food feels very clean and high quality. The decor is really nice and intimate for a quiet date or group dinner. There is a really nice tea room and private dining are in the back for special occasions.

This Persian restaurant is a standout for its authentic flavors, warm atmosphere, and thoughtful attention to detail. The kababs are the undeniable highlight—expertly seasoned and grilled to juicy perfection. Whether you choose the tender chicken, flavorful koobideh, or hearty beef options, each bite is a testament to the quality of the ingredients and the skill of the chefs. The combo platters are a must-try, offering a generous selection of kababs alongside fragrant saffron rice and chargrilled vegetables, making it easy to sample the best the menu has to offer. The drink menu complements the food beautifully, with aromatic Persian tea served in traditional glassware that enhances the cozy, homey vibe of the restaurant. For those seeking something stronger, the wine selection is well-curated, adding a touch of elegance to the meal. To end on a sweet note, the saffron ice cream is an absolute treat. Creamy, fragrant, and perfectly balanced, it’s a unique dessert that leaves a lasting impression. The ambiance is just as inviting as the food, with a cozy, welcoming decor that feels like a warm embrace. Whether you’re here for a family gathering, a date night, or simply to enjoy a comforting meal, this restaurant delivers a truly memorable experience. It’s a place you’ll want to return to again and again.

Fantastic food and service! From the beautifully decorated interior to warm, friendly and courteous service, this Persian restaurant is now my favorite in the bay area. Our dolmeh and addas polo was outstanding! The chicken and beef Koobideh was super flavorful and cooked perfectly. Will definitely return!
