Customer Review Summary
Backwoods Inn offers a rustic, old-fashioned atmosphere with friendly service that many reviewers appreciate. The decor features nostalgic elements, creating a warm and inviting vibe, ideal for family outings. While some guests enjoy the flavor of the steaks, others claim the quality is inconsistent, describing them as dry and lacking seasoning. Prices are generally seen as reasonable for a steakhouse. The menu also includes seafood and chicken options, along with a reputation for delicious sides like stuffed baked potatoes and homemade dressings. Overall, experiences vary, with some patrons expressing disappointment in the quality of the steaks, while others have had pleasant dining experiences and plan to return. Service is consistently praised, but issues with food quality and preparation seem to be a recurring theme in the reviews.

My second visit to this location. Service staff is great and friendly. 5 stars. Atmosphere is old fashioned dinner. They quite old pictures which I love. History is amazing. The food is not so great. This place is known for their steak but the steak seem to be of low quality. Ordered a rare medium. They are supposed to be tender and juicy but unfortunately, mine had no taste and very dry for a top sirloin. Price was on the low side. Maybe is the reason for its dryness. No thank you

Backwoods inn is a great place to take the family, dimly lit with warm light, it feels like a step back into the past, from the sawdust on the floor to the 1950’s farm decor, the vibe here is as pleasing as the food is. The cuts of meat are nice and lean, prepared with a charcoal flame which adds a pleasant rich smoky flavor, the stuffed baked potato is a must as well. While they do lack a little creativity on the appetizer & desert menu’s they make up for that everywhere else. Price wise they have some pretty typical steakhouse prices, nothing you wouldn’t expect when going out for this type of meal. Service is always great and the wait (sometimes a bit long) is well worth it.

The Backwoods Inn is a rustic steakhouse with the wonderful smell of mesquite in the air. One of the best things about the food is the flavor of the steaks come through without reliance on lots of salt or multiple additional seasonings. Maybe for some folks this is a negative, but not in our case. There is salt, pepper and steak sauces available to add to your food as you desire. Also, on the menu is a variety of seafood such as Halibut, shrimp, king crab legs, lobster and others. If you prefer, chicken, ribs, pork chops and/or pasta. Lots of choices for members of your party. We ordered the filet mignon, the sirloin, the stuffed baked potato, (it was huge) veggies, salads and garlic bread. All the food was delicious. In addition, Backwoods makes several of their own salad dressings, such as the ranch, blue cheese, and thousand islands. The service was on point and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Yet another great small business right here in Santa Clarita that is definitely worth your patronage.

This was a first time back in many years. The staff is really great. Our server Anthony was awesome. We had one dish that not prepared as expected and he took care of it with no issues. Food is good and desserts were very tasty.

I've heard about this restaurant for many years and finally decided to stop by for a dinner date with my wife. The atmosphere inside is very nice with dim tiffanys style lighting throughout and old-school leather booths from the 60s. We ordered 2 sirloin steak dinners, which are known to be the house specials. My wife ordered hers medium, and i ordered mine medium/well. Both steaks brought out to us appeared rear/blue and had no seasoning whatsoever. Considering that this dinner ran just over $100 with tip, there was zero garnish on the plates and the $8 appetizer side of mushrooms we had also ordered turned out to be a tiny serving of what looked like canned mushrooms warmed up in a microwave. Food aside, the waiting staff was very friendly, and the service was quick. Overall, I hope that our experience is a fluke and isn't a reflection of this restaurant given many prior high reviews. Would we come again? Maybe......only time will tell.

We visited Backwoods Inn for the first time since we were in town for a wedding. This place has delicious food! We had mushrooms appetizers, got a rib eye, the broaster chicken, my son got a grilled cheese. The drinks are good and the bar is very nice. The ambiance is dope! The displays are beautiful, pictures on the wall are great. Very original restaurant with wood chips on the floor. The service is top notch! Staff is super nice, friendly, always with a smile. Our server Joann is on it just like James!! Wonderful people and always making sure you’re taken care of! We wanted to stay longer but we had to attend the rest of the wedding event nearby. This is a place you must visit and enjoy! Thank you for a great experience Backwoods Inn :)

I never leave reviews but felt compelled to leave this awful review after going to Backwoods last week. My family has been coming to this restaurant for over 30 years. My parents even got engaged here 45 years ago so this restaurant is very special to us! I have been hyping up this restaurant to my wife for years and finally took her there to celebrate our 15 year anniversary and get some steaks as I hadn't been myself in quite a few years. We ordered the New York and Filet Mignon and as we both took our first bites, looked at each other and immediately knew these were the worst steaks we have ever had in our lives. Both pieces of meat were dry with no seasoning and no taste at all. Our waitress was a sweetheart and I nicely mentioned that the garlic bread was fine, the twice baked potatoes were amazing as always but that the steaks were absolutely terrible and had no taste at all. She was very apologetic and nice about it and mentioned the owner decided after the pandemic that she wanted to leave off seasonings because she was worried about peoples allergies... As someone with Celiac Disease, I can say I have never heard that horrible and pathetic excuse from an owner to save money on costs by blaming food allergies... on a piece of meat... We aren't talking pasta or bread or even potatoes that could possibly not be gluten free but meat?! She mentioned there was salt and pepper on the table for people to add taste. I couldn't believe she actually said that! I am paying all this money for steaks and then I have to prepare it myself?! She was really nice and a great waitress but I just couldn't believe the excuses I was hearing. We had to ask for A1 sauce just so we could some sort of taste to eat the rest of it. I heard the table next to me ask for Cesar dressing and the waitress said the owner cut down the dressing choices also but still named off 6 other dressings. Its a steak house and you don't have Caesar dressing?... come on! I pulled up reviews online and saw several other people complaining about the horrible steaks as well. I was so disappointed to take my wife here after years of great memories with my family and the steaks end up being terrible! We will not be back until the owner cares more about customer satisfaction over her profits...

I've only lived in Canyon Country for 4yrs and have been here twice but I love it. I love how the location is a little hidden. The place is a nice size, not too big, a very homey feel. The food is great! Just love the atmosphere. I think I'm going to start coming in more often. Porter House and Famous Potato are a great choice.
