Customer Review Summary
Birk's has received mixed reviews, with some guests praising the exceptional quality of their prime rib and overall dining experience. Many highlight the tender and richly flavored steaks, particularly the Bone-In Ribeye and prime rib, cooked over mesquite and almond wood, with a unique smoky flavor. Service varies; some reviews mention inattentive and rude waitstaff, while others describe attentive professional service. Appetizers and side dishes have been criticized for being too small or unremarkable, and there are mentions of poorly executed dishes, such as overcooked steaks and dry clams. The ambiance is noted as warm yet can be noisy, making it less suitable for those sensitive to busy environments. While the food quality has its champions, several reviewers believe the pricing does not align with the overall dining experience. Thanksgiving and special occasion menus have received positive feedback, enhancing the restaurant's reputation for festive meals.

We are a group of five people. Overall service wise, we did not feel been well served and been welcomed; the waiter was not in a mood of serving our table, slow and arrogant attitude, and upon twice of checking the bill, he still made a mistake of a wrong charge. Food wise, they claim the steaks are slowly cooked but in fact, all the prime ribs and fillet mignon we ordered as medium rare were not slowly cooked, outer range was fully cooked and inside was gradually turning from medium well to pinky color. Not to mention that one friend of our party ordered medium rare new york steak, it came with medium well and when we asked the waiter for checking this steak, the waiter asked to cut the steak at the middle point to prove the meat is pink at the center... It is a slowly cooked steak, why the internal meat isnt stably pink color all over? Anyway, the waiter admitted the steak wasnt cooked right, and sent back to the kitchen to remake a medium rare. after 20min they did it successfully. But when the waiter serves the remake new york steal, he looked like he was not happy re-serving this steak to our table, and asked us to confirm if our friend wanted medium rare... what a joke. The price does not match the quality of food and service. Will definitely not come again.

Something must have gone wrong as my expectations were set high based on the reviews. The clam chowder had a strong taste of flour and the clams were dry, tough, and stringy. The salad looked very much like what is served at a shopping center food court (which is perfectly fine for a food court). The steak was dry and tough. I have also not seen such well used silverware at any decent restaurant - it matches what is provided at a cafeteria or food court. I am really irked at how poor things went.

I tried hard to find the value in the pricing when compared to the quality of the food. The appetizers were way too tiny, and too crispy.. My lemon drop martini was not strong at all. I’ll give the prime rib a 10/10, but the prawns were bland and the creamed spinach was too much. I was too scared to stick around for dessert so we skipped out on it.

Came for thanksgiving lunch, served a prix fix menu and it was fantastic. We started w their calamari (a must). I got the turkey meal which came w a salad starter, the entree (white and dark meat turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, and cranberry sauce). Everything tasted great and vibe was warm and welcoming for Christmas. For dessert I got the cheesecake. It was an easy option for a couple who decided not to travel for the holiday weekend and we’ll def be back!

A classic American steakhouse experience at Birk’s, Santa Clara Birk’s delivers an exceptional dining experience for those craving a hearty, classic American meal. I started with the Seafood Platter, which was fresh, well-prepared, and beautifully presented—an excellent way to kick off the evening. For the main course, the Bone-In Ribeye was the star of the show. Cooked to perfection, the steak was tender, juicy, and full of rich, smoky flavor—a true testament to the skill of their kitchen. Pairing it with the Golden State Apple Driven Dry Cider from Sonoma County was a great choice, as the crisp and slightly tart notes of the cider complemented the richness of the ribeye perfectly. To finish, I had the Vanilla Ice Cream, which was simple yet indulgent, providing a refreshing and sweet end to a fantastic meal. The ambiance here is warm and upscale without feeling pretentious, and the service was attentive and professional. Overall, Birk’s offers a quintessential American steakhouse experience—excellent food, great drinks, and a comfortable setting. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just in the mood for quality steak and seafood, this place is highly recommended.

The best prime rib in town! If you after the perfect cut then Birk's is the place. I prefer the medium over medium rare, and it's amazing! The consistency of the menu is great and does not disappoint! Another gem that is worth noting and to recommend! Service is just as fantastic but please keep in mind that it can get busy.

Was trying to decide where to go for my birthday as we always go out for my birthday or special occasion and get prime rib we’ve been to Sundance, Alexander’s and the house of prime however, never been to Birks so we decided to give it a try… we are so glad we did it by far is the best prime rib that we’ve had at all the places so far it’s got such a unique smoky flavour to it from them cooking it over mesquite, cedar and almond wood… are you prime rib lovers? If yes you have to give this place a try and I believe they even have prime rib specials on Monday. The other items that we really enjoyed was the brussels sprouts and creamed spinach… I don’t normally do cream spinach however theres was amazing. I will be coming back just for those along with the melt in your mouth prime rib. When you go to yelp review Birk’s is a little further down the list, but coming from a guy who knows prime rib it should be towards the top of the list when it comes to prime rib in the Bay Area…

The place has very tasty food, yet with significant price. They are very popular and therefore it can get very noisy there. I can recommend the place, but I myself wouldn't go there unless it's company paid meal due to the balance of price and atmosphere. Would not recommend to HSPs or anyone who's easily affected by busy environments.
