About McKinley's Grille - steak house in Pomona, California

Fine-dining option at the Sheraton serving an array of farm-fresh American dishes.

Customer Review Summary

McKinley's Grille offers a mixed dining experience. Many reviews highlight the great ambiance, particularly on the evening patio, and the attentive service from staff, including a memorable experience after a conference event. Food quality is variable; while some dishes like BBQ ribs and calamari receive praise, others, such as salmon and various pasta options, fall short with complaints about underseasoning and overcooking. Prices are noted to be high, especially in light of the food quality issues. Overall, while some patrons rave about their experiences, others express disappointment, making the restaurant's reliability inconsistent.

We had the pleasure of dining at the on-site restaurant after our event in the conference center, and it was an exceptional experience. The evening patio location provided the perfect ambiance, with a great atmosphere that made our dinner and cocktail hour truly memorable. The staff was incredibly attentive, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and that our guests were well taken care of. Prateek and his team went above and beyond with their service, making sure every detail was perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion or a delightful evening out!

We seem to have exhausted our choices of local-enough restaurants to celebrate special occasions. This place fits the bill as it was a place we've never dined in before and one that offers "farm to table" cuisine. So we chose to celebrate Father's Day here tonight. Location wise, it was easy to find as it is at the Sheraton Hotel in the Pomona Fairplex. The indoor seating area of the restaurant is comparable to other hotel-based restaurants, but the outdoor patio area was beautiful. Our server was nice and attentive. We ordered appetizers, which were tasty. The wings were perfectly battered and fried. The roasted red pepper hummus was also delicious but came with too few pita triangles. The best entree we were served was the loch salmon, but even with it being the best of what we ordered, it was underseasoned, in my opinion. A little bit more salt would have made it better. My daughter's pasta was the most disappointing of all. The pasta was an over-cooked glob of broken fettuccine pieces. My daughter loves pasta and usually orders it everywhere. She didn't even finish half of her order. I ordered the Delmonico steak, the most expensive item on their menu, specified wanting it cooked medium rare. Lo and behold, the dish arrived, fancily plated complete with a delightful spray of microgreens on top. Upon closer inspection, the steak was medium well and not medium rare, so it was already a disappointment from that point on. We decided to end the meal with an order of a bananas foster. Now, this dish did not disappoint. Overall, the experience left much to be desired, especially for the amount of $$ we spent. So it's a definite no, we will not be coming back for the four of us.

My group was awaiting an event to open at the Fairplex, so we stopped in to McKinley's have a meal. We were greeted by a very friendly manager named Dexter who accommodated seating us in the patio, despite the area not officially being open for the evening. Our server was excellent and the food was top notch. We have a toddler and appreciated the children's menu options.

We were only sorry we don't have one in our hometown. We were blown away how cool that place was. And we loved our server. And the food....wow. The BBQ ribs were falling off the bone, amazing! It's definitely one of our favorite experiences in Florida!!

As expected, this restaurant will never let you down and always give it's best. Atmosphere, food and service at it's highest level 👌. I had their crispy Calamari, Salmon and Ceasars salad. It was ALL delicious and topped it off with Dessert!!

Very disappointed in the food. 10/13/24 I ordered the pasta with shrimp, pasta was so overcooked it was mooshie, and the shrimp was cold. I sent back and got steak instead, all the food was hot but the steak was soooo chewy. My husband ordered Salmon, very good exceptthe potataoeswereso hard ge couldnt eat them. Got the bill and the steak was $60. I would have expected some type of discount for having to return the1st meal & having to wait 20 for another meal. This is where bad service comes into play now a days. The waitress was nice but seemed that returning bad food was a normal occurrence. They also over salt everything. My 1st and last time eating here. Management needs to address this with chef and service.

Not really worth it for breakfast. Sausage was overcooked and had a funny taste. Basic but decent enough breakfast but not for the price. Plain black coffee was $6… 👀 almost the same price as a Starbucks latte lol

The place was hidden, but very nice. Food was typical cafe slop no biggie or complaints. I met a friend for lunch and had a burger, it was delicious. I would go back for sure
