Customer Review Summary
dPlace Steak & Pasta offers a unique Korean fusion dining experience with a classy yet casual ambiance. The food is generally well-prepared and flavorful, with standout dishes like the OC Galbi, Truffle Salmon Pasta, and Fried Calamari often highlighted. However, some reviewers found the pork belly tough and overcooked, and noted inconsistencies in the quality of appetizers and entrees. Service can be hit or miss; some diners experienced slow and inattentive staff, leading to frustrations regarding high chair requests and food disposal issues. Despite these service concerns, many guests still express a strong desire to return, praising the affordability and taste of the dishes, especially the OC Galbi. Overall, dPlace is recommended for its delicious fusion cuisine but may require improvements in service consistency.

A fantastic Korean fusion restaurant. I visited with friends for dinner and had an amazing time. The dishes were flavorful and well-prepared. We started with the Fried Calamari—a whole calamari cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and tender inside. We also ordered the OC Galbi Korean Style and Pork Belly Chop Steak, both cooked perfectly with incredible taste. The Truffle Salmon Pasta was creamy, and the Korean Beef Mushroom Rice was savory and satisfying. For dessert, we enjoyed the Basque Cheesecake, which was decadently rich. Every dish we tried was perfectly executed and delicious. Highly recommend this spot for a memorable dining experience.

dPlace is a wonderful hidden gem that has been picking up popularity. The ambiance is both classy and casual, combining the upscale aesthetic of a modern restaurant with the hip vibe of Korean pub. The servers, both human and robot, are quick and attentive. And the food is a delicious Asian take on western cuisine. I always gravitate towards their seafood cream pastas, but sometimes indulge in their OC Galbi if enough carnivores are with me. The calamari is also always a solid pick.

For reservation of 18 people, there is a minimum order amount and a $50 deposit. Additionally, an 18% gratuity was automatically applied to the bill. The food was honestly really good! Oc galbi Korean and American styles are highly recommended. They are delicious, so tender and flavorful. The pork belly was tough and overcooked though. Appetizers and other pasta dishes, entrees are mediocre. The service, however, was a different story. It was slow and not attentive at all. Requested high chairs when I made the reservation, no high chairs upon arrival and had to ask three different servers until we finally got them. Since we were a larger group, we ended up over ordering and had a lot of leftovers. When we asked for the check, the staff started to clearing the table and throwing away food, including items we had planned to take home like the galbi, calamari, steak, etc. Despite us telling them we need to-go boxes and wanted the leftovers, they still discarded a couple of plates full of food… not sure why but it definitely felt bad since we pay for them.

I visited dPlace for lunch with my sister. In fact, this place used to be where Souplantation used to be, so it is geographically very familiar to people who have lived in Fullerton for a long time. The restaurant is spacious and the wide space between tables is an advantage. The dinner menu has more variety, so we wanted to try the dinner menu, but the server said that only lunch menu dishes are available during lunch hours, so we ordered OC Galbi Korean and Wagyu Single Cheese Burger from the lunch menu and tried them. The OC Galbi was a little salty, but it was cut into bite-size pieces, so it was easy to eat, and the Wagyu Single Cheese Burger tasted like the bulgogi burger that I can get at Lotteria in Korea. I don’t mean it was bad, but it was good. 😋 Looking at the menu, there are also fusion style dishes such as Doenjang Pasta and Jjamppong Pasta, which makes me curious about what they taste like. I have to come back and try them next time.

This Korean Italian Fusion restaurant was very nice. We came with a friend on the week day at noon time. There was no wait at all. The pasta is very tasty. The fried calamari had a light crispy batter, but not oily. The whole squid was big and meaty.

FOOD IS OKAY, SERVICE IS DISAPPOINTING. Calamari - 000/10 - It was no longer hot when it came to the table. The calamari was very very rubbery and hard. We told the female server about it and she said "okay let me double check that for you". She came back after five minutes and said "So I talked to them back there and they said this is really how we make it, and this is how our calamari is." We were so taken aback because why would a restaurant deliberately serve overcooked, hard and rubbery calamari? So we asked "so it's meant to be eaten rubbery and hard?", and she just repeated what she said. She did not offer to re-make it, she did not offer an alternative and or anything at all. When we were asking if we could order something else, she just took the calamari plate away and told us she'll take it off. So disappointing. Truffle cheese bread (9/10) - good The four entrees we ordered did NOT come out at the same time. The OC galbi (7/10) was tender and flavorful. Lunch bibimbap (6/10) for 20bucks was just so-so. The baby back ribs (4/10) dry with no flavor (we did ask for the spicy sauce to be put on the side) and the server said it was marinated. The chicken and waffles (5/10) - nothing special about it. Basically, the service really threw us off. The female server was not rude about the Calamari but the fact that she or the manager did not offer any alternative or fix is very disappointing. Another male server came to our table and just made it all worse by saying they use "korean squid" that's why it's hard but that's just plain disgusting. Why serve it if it can’t be eaten? Very weird and strange thing to say to a diner. Not a place we would be coming back to.

Very good Korean owned pasta and steak restaurant. The place was packed on a week night. The food was cooked perfectly. Definitely a must try!

I’m so happy to have such a wonderful restaurant near my home. You can enjoy delicious food at a reasonable price and experience authentic pasta flavors you won’t find elsewhere. The OC Galbi is a must-try!
