5th Street Steakhouse receives mixed reviews from diners. Many guests praise the excellent service and delightful food, highlighting dishes like the filet mignon, deconstructed wellington, and garlic mashed potatoes. The atmosphere, particularly outdoor seating around fire pits, is also appreciated. However, some diners express disappointment with service shortcomings, such as mixed-up orders and slow attention from staff. We had such a great time! Our server was excellent. Our food was delicious, as expected. My husband got a giant steak. The garlic mashed potatoes were fluffy and flavourful. The asparagus was perfectly steamed, cooked with a slight crunch. I got a deconstructed wellington, with a mushroom duxelle puff pastry! So divine! 🤩 like a piece of art on my plate! It was a great time. The Old Fashioned drink hit the spot and the real maraschino cherry was dark, rich, and sweet. We hadn’t been here in over ten years but we finally found a way. Thanks for a lovely evening.

It would have been nice If they got our steak orders right, And the waiters did their jobs like pouring more wine and water when needed, and removed our dirty dishes in a timely manor. And then kicked us out because they needed to flip more tables. I would like to suggest they expand their establishment with a larger waiting area instead of going to the bar to wait or sit at these little tables for only two people. The cooks need to pay more attention to the plates they are serving, They looked like the food was slopped on the plates, like my roasted garlic was upside down with the black ugly roots showing in an unappetizing way. Also the wedge Salad showed no talent at all in its making. Other than that and a few other things, this is just another example of a Hoity-toity want to be Ruth Chris steak house that will do just fine for the Butte County area.

GREAT steaks. Filet Mignon is a must have. You can't go wrong with the Mash Potatoes. Our favorite Place to eat! We come here often! Its worth it. LOVE the outdoor seating around the fire pits.

We had a really fantastic lunch here on August 2nd, 2024. My Mother & I were visiting my Sister in Chico, CA. We are from Peoria, IL. My niece also flew in from S/Diego. Lunch was fantastic! The service was exceptional! The food was remarkable! The Staff was in Hawaiian shirts & the ambiance of the place was lovely! We will definitely be back next time we are in Chico! Thanks, Heather & Family

I came from the East Coast to visit family. I am originally from Chico and remember some really great places to eat, such as Jake's. Is this really the best Chico has to offer? We were a large party of 12. The wait staff got the orders mixed up and I got my son in law's steak and he got mine. We did not realize it until I went to give him the rest of mine because I couldn't eat it all. The food just wasn't that good frankly. I also think we got a limited menu. And, the waiter had to ask about getting scallops instead of shrimp due to the size of our party. I guess I'm used to places where there are less restrictions and the wait staff is more attentive. They keep your water glasses full and if you buy a bottle of wine, they come back to pour it for you. And, I realize we stayed a while, but our bill was $1000 and we were asked to leave because they had another reservation coming in. We did not reserve a special room...these were just tables. Last I checked, there is no time limit on a table. I think they could have handled things much better.

This really is the preeminent dining spot in Chico. It strikes a great balance with its rustic vibe, the service is top notch, and of course the food is exquisite. If weather permits, the patio is an awesome place to enjoy dinner or even just some drinks and appetizers. My last time here I had the molé, a 10oz ribeye with a delicious molé with cheddar mashed potatoes and onion strings. I’ve had just about all their steak offerings and they’re always perfectly done. Some of my family don’t eat red meat and they still enjoy the chicken and fish options on the menu. There really isn’t a single bad thing in the food or drinks menu. All things considered you’re pretty much guaranteed to have a great experience at 5th Street with such great food, service, and atmosphere.
