About Ember & Rye - steak house in Carlsbad, California
Customer Review Summary
Ember & Rye offers a memorable dining experience with outstanding food and friendly, knowledgeable service. Appetizers like oysters, croquettes, and skewers received high praise, while entrées including veal chop, swordfish, and Denver Gold steak were exceptional. The restaurant's newly renovated interior is stunning and suits a golf club atmosphere. Menu highlights include buttery croissants, a must-try celery root horseradish, and incredible sides like glazed mushrooms and broccolini. The lunch menu is limited but features delightful options like tender salmon and wagyu burgers, alongside well-priced dishes. Service, however, was inconsistent, with main servers often absent and drinks slow to be refilled. Despite minor issues, the overall atmosphere and staff hospitality contribute to a positive dining experience. Some diners expressed disappointment over the removal of popular menu items like the Club Sandwich and apple pie. Overall, Ember & Rye is highly recommended for its quality food and charming ambiance.

Had dinner with two friends on Jan 23 and was very pleased. The appetisers were great and the entrees were outstanding . We started with oysters, croquettes and skewers (which were all recommended by our server) and all were very good. For dinner we ordered the veal chop, swordfish and Denver Gold steak all of which were outstanding. Again recommended by our server who was friendly, extremely helpful and knowledgeable of the menu. The next time I’m in town I will make sure to plan and make reservations; not only was all the food great, service tremendous, setting comfortable but more importantly the overall experience was very memorable. Thank you Ember & Rye, I won’t forget.

Beautiful dining & great food. The croissants they serve before the meal are buttery-creamy good! Steaks, delicious! The celery root horseradish is a MUST. Sheri glazed mushrooms are something I could just make a meal out of - they're that good! We were disappointed to see the Club Sandwiche removed from the lunch menu (perfect for its golf course location) and the apple pie gone. Please bring those items back.

From calling to set up a reservation all the way to the end of our dinner, the experience and service was incredible. We had a group of 8 people; everyone had a delicious dinner. I had the swordfish--I highly recommend it! Sorry I didn't get a good picture before I ate it, but you can see how much I enjoyed it. An empty plate says volumes. Of the sides we ordered, the brocollini was good, the creamed spinach was great, and the Brussel sprouts were absolutely amazing. Thank you, Ember & Rye, for creating such a wonderful experience.

First of all, the newly renovated restaurant is stunning. Everything looks really high-end and modern without being pretentious. Perfect for a golf club-type dining experience. The lunch menu is a bit limited but everything we had was delightful. The salmon was super tender and moist, the fish tacos were yummy, and the wagyu burger and ahi sandwiches were great. The spicy ketchup was a notable hit too. The cherry pie looked really good too. And prices were very fair for the quality and portions. The new chef seems great and the menu was well-balanced and lots of reasonably healthy options. And it’s an easy menu for people with gluten allergies. The service was spotty. Our main server was not around much and so 3 other servers ended up rotating through our table during service to both serve dishes and clear plates. And drinks were rarely refilled even if empty for a long while. Not a big deal to me personally, but for a practically empty restaurant at lunch and at this price point, that was a tad disappointing. However, all the staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially the hostess.

If you have a chance, don't miss the food here. We had steak frites, king salmon and fish taco here. They are very delicious and cooked perfectly.

Amazing staff and ambience! Newly renovated and beautiful interior offers guests a Victorian classic country club vibe. I highly recommend calling ahead or arriving early to be seated outside next to the 18th hole. I always love when a menu has GF noted. The tostada was difficult to eat but worth the effort. The heirloom tomato salad was to DIE for, I would eat that everyday. The oysters were small and didn’t carry a lot of meat so I wouldn’t order again. Veal chop was cooked to perfection, the capers in the sauce offered a delectable sour taste that complimented the cream and pearl onion. The corn crème brûlée should be a dessert. Truly a lovely restaurant with amazing staff like our waiter Alex. A steakhouse is a steakhouse, you get what you come for.

Our waitress was Amanda and she was absolutely amazing! From the service to the food... I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYONE VISITING THIS RESORT. We ordered the carrot hummus.... It sounds interesting but it tasted PITA LICKIN' GOOD! lol Then for the main course we ordered the burgers and Man Oh' Man.... everything on the plate was to die for! Even the peppercorn truffle ketchup!

This is a well kept secret diner that I am glad I got to visit. A buddy of mine and I met for lunch. The food is delicious. Staff are great and respectful. The ambiance is amazing. The atmosphere and the seating are pleasant along with the quiet location. I’m definitely coming back again.
