Bluewater Grill provided a pleasant experience. We ordered halibut that was cooked perfectly—flaky and just right—but the portion felt somewhat lacking for the price. However, the quality compensated for this to some extent. The sourdough bread stood out as a highlight, being crusty and delicious, and the ambiance added a lovely touch. The service was excellent as well; the staff was friendly and attentive, enhancing the overall experience. I'm settling on a 4-star rating for now, but perhaps next time, I'll see if they can reel me in for a perfect 5!

Great service and variety of fresh fish dishes! On this winter evening we sat on the back patio (there was a long wait for a regular table) and the heater right next to us kept us nice and toasty! We enjoyed all of the following: - Baked Crab & Artichoke Dip (not lacking on crab!) - Tuscan Artichoke Rockfish (Snapper) (this one won the day, delicious!) - Chipotle Blackened Swordfish (although the crust was beautiful, it overpowered the fish, in my opinion, so I would not order it again) - Enjoyed over a bottle of Acrobat Pino Gris

The crab dip appetizer is absolutely delicious and the tortilla chips that come with it are very tasty as well. I had the Fisherman's Platter and swapped scallops for extra prawn. The fish and prawn were both delicious and came with generously portioned side cups of tartar/cocktail sauce. I liked that the fish had a proper ratio of actual fish to the breading; often times with fish and chips, the fish is all breading with little meat, but that wasn't the case here. My wife had the swordfish and said it was very good as well. The service was prompt and friendly. They do take reservations, which you'll probably want to do on busy weekend days; it was quite packed when we went on a Saturday night. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, the latter featuring numerous large heaters which make it comfortable during chillier weather. Overall, a great experience and I'm sure we'll want to come back if we are in Carlsbad again!

On a Saturday afternoon break from helping seniors with their Medicare plans, we drove to Carlsbad for a delicious lunch. I had the Beer-Battered Fish and chips, and my wife had the Blackened Shrimp Tacos. Both tasted fantastic. The cole slaw was also well made. We added a bottle of Pellegrino and enjoyed sitting outside on a perfect day. It is on our list to revisit.

Bluewater Grill was fantastic! From the appetizers, to the cocktails to the entrees every bite and sip was delicious. The New England Clam Chowder is one of the best on the west coast. Their outdoor seating area was perfect with a view of the sunset. The only negative for some might be the occasional train passing though we didn't mind. The service was fantastic from our server to the bussers to expediter they were all friendly and efficient.

We had an overall good experience. We were seated quickly on the patio (which was heated) and checked on frequently. The calamari was crisp, the burger was solid, the scallops were brilliantly cooked. The scallop dish had very well prepared asparagus with goat cheese grits and sweet corn. A nice dinner date atmosphere for us.

This place is great for FINE Dinner. I went to this restaurant with my family, there was a line waiting for seats. When we sat down, the waiter/waitress recommended today’s special for us. It is very important for that, I think the taste is better than the regular one. Since we were lots of people there, we ordered different cuisines, just want to try as many as possible. Even though there were many people on that night, I felt satisfied with services from this restaurant. Highly recommended!
