Worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. Food gets a 0 because after 2 hours of waiting we never got any food except the soup and salad. We had a reservation at 7pm, the front desk said they were running a bit behind. This was a lie but we did not realize it. After 35 minutes, we we seated. I ordered the Benihana special Sake, which was sour and undrinkable. Had to send it back. Then we waited. And waited. No chef. After 40 minutes, we complained to the manager. He really seemed not to care. Another 30 minutes goes by. No chef. We Then complained again and the waitress told us there were 2 to 3 tables ahead of us and we had to wait further. We did not. At 9:20 pm, we asked for the check for the drinks and walked out. Food gets a 0 because we never got any except the soup and the small salad.

WOW!!! What a wonderful experience my family had last night! Trevor was our chef and he was OUTSTANDING!!!😁 His skill with his utensils, his funny jokes, his great cooking- All awesome! He made us all feel right at home! But what impressed us most was his authenticity- We all loved talking with him, learning a little about him as well- He has been there 12 years! We called his manager, Brett, over to sing his praises- He had wonderful things to say about him as well and even shared a bit about the restaurant- Brett was lovely and very much appreciated us taking the time to pull him over before we left. It was very apparent he has worked hard to get the best crew together over the years and he has done an amazing job! Now I certainly can't leave this review without mentioning our server, Valentino! He was personable and friendly, always attentive to our table, keeping our drinks full, among other things. He even pulled a Chef from another table so I had a threesome singing their fun rendition of Happy Birthday! All in all, I can't recommend this location of Benihana's highly enough! Do yourself a favor and enjoy this experience!!

You have to experience it first because it's hard to write a review without experiencing Benihana's. If it wasn't for my workplace, Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort, I would never have known about Benihanas. I may have eventually by word-of-mouth, but it wasn't until now. This is probably one of the best atmospheres to be in, especially when it comes to being with co-workers. We've been coming here for the past five years since I've been a part of CBI. Although we only come here once a year, it's well worth the wait. The food is cooked fresh, right in front of you 😋 and there's entertainment along with it. You can almost see it by the pictures I provided. Our cook, i wish I would have gotten his name, he had fantastic people relation skills. It's a must-have in his line of work in order to be able to establish good conversation while he's preparing the food for you. If you do go, take a group or go with your family. It's just more fun that way.

Best. Night. Ever. My shirley temple had the perfect ratio of Sprite to grenadine (with three cherries!), the chicken friend rice absolutely slapped and Arthur was a masterful chef. I look forward to my return.

Marco was an absolute pleasure to be served by and excellent at his job, displayed professionalism with a touch of great humor. My first time at Benihana's but I will return because of this quality of service. Give this guy a raise!!

My review is mixed as our experience was both good and bad. Here’s the good - Our server and chef were fantastic! Trevor was our chef and he was skilled, funny, and gave us an incredible experience that turned around our night. I left happy because of his service! I didn’t catch our servers name but he was great too. Now for the bad - even with a reservation we waited an hour and 15 minutes for our table and got sat in a different section than what we requested on the opentable reservation. There was a swarm of people in the lobby (unsure of their fire code capacity but it seemed to be over capacity) and a lot of people left because of the extreme wait on reservations NOT walk ins. Given it was Valentine’s Day i figured it would be busy, but I thought that was what reservations were for? There was a separate time we had ordered online for pickup (ordered ahead of time and set a pickup time) and we had to wait almost an hour for that as well. I’m not sure what is going on with that but it needs to be fixed. The food is amazing and I’d like to continue coming/ordering online but it just sucks that I have to wait so long for it. Please please please fix!! It will make your customers happy!

“We had the pleasure of being served by Travis, and it was our first time visiting with our kids. They absolutely loved it! Travis was hilarious, keeping us all entertained, and our kids couldn’t stop laughing. He’s incredibly talented, and the food was absolutely delicious. A fantastic experience all around!”

Where to begin…reservations at 6pm for 10 for my nieces 13th birthday, what time did we get seated you ask? After 7pm, what time did we eat you ask? Oh after 9pm. Daniel was great and he was the cook, Nicholas was the server and while he was obviously overwhelmed with the situation he tried his best, although not offering the whole table refills or drinks when needed. Preston, bless his heart came over and was clearly an assistant manager or (manager in training) did his best to diffuse the frustration and complaints but it really wasn’t his place to try and tried to“make the situation better.” Carlos was the manager there but was the GM for Mission Valley so obviously this exact location wasn’t his concern. We were told Emily is the general manager for this location and she will be getting a follow up phone call. Also full discretion we did receive a “discount” which covered the tip more or less. We were missing entrees of sushi and food that should have been included with what we ordered. It’s a shame, what should have been a wonderful experience ended in an almost 5 hour experience. An unfortunate and disheartening experience overall. They shouldn’t accept walk ins if they don’t have the staff to adequately provide for the customers that took the time to reserve time for special occasions.
