About Prison Hill Brewing Company - steak house in Yuma, Arizona

Beer brewed on-site, plus burgers & other pub staples, served in an industrial-chic tavern with TVs.

Customer Review Summary

Prison Hill Brewing Company offers a great outdoor seating area and delicious cocktails, notably the hibiscus mule. While the food is fresh, some items like the fried avocado can be greasy and lacking in taste. Service was generally good, despite a long wait for a table on a busy Saturday, and the staff was friendly. The menu has diverse food choices, including tasty hamburgers and a well-received grilled cheese sandwich, though some sides like the fries and potato chips fell short. Vegetarian options are available but may be overpriced. The brewery is praised for its awesome beers, with the Chango Malo stout being a standout choice. Overall, the atmosphere is fun and inviting, but some customers find the food pricing a bit high for what is offered.

Great outdoor sitting area when the weather is nice. This brewery has delicious cocktails, our favorite was the hibiscus mule I believe that’s the name. Food was fresh but greasy? If that makes any sense. My burger had the “fried avocado” and so did our sampler but the sampler fried avocado was mostly the breading and a tiny tiny slice of avocado, it didn’t taste that great. When we were served, I had to ask for the sauces for our sampler since they had forgotten it, it was a busy Saturday afternoon. Bathrooms were very clean and Parking Lot was at the back of the restaurant but lots of parking spots. Service was good considering it was busy and our server was very nice. Nice downtown Yuma view if you’re seated in the outdoor dining area.

Hamburgers there are great - meaty, tasty, and cooked to order. The fries were ingots of potato, chunky and I didn’t care for them. Also potato chips came with my order but they tasted bad over-cooked. Next time I want normal French fries or onion rings.

Put on a 45-minute wait for a 4-person table. Not a problem. But ended up waiting about an hour and 20 minutes. When there were many tables available that would accommodate us. After we got seated. My wife got a call to say our table was finally ready. That's right, after we were seated. After that the service was much better. The food was good. Our first time there and was just expecting more. As we had heard good things about the place.

Menu has a ton of great food choices. I had a side salad with chipotle our ranch and that dressing is crazy delicious. I had the growed up grilled cheese and added avocado. Omg. It was so delicious I ate the whole thing! The spicy coleslaw was good but I didn’t find it spicy at all. We sat at the bar at about 11 am on a Friday and it got super packed about noon.

For a vegetarian, there were a few options. There were a number of appetizers including a corn with cheese (eloje) though highly overpriced. Also got some fried avocado tacos, also good but overly priced. Overall, ok stop with fun beers.

Awesome beer and food! There are lots of great craft breweries, but usually their food menus are lack luster... I ordered the appetizer sampler not expecting much, but everything on the plate was made in house and amazing!

The food and service here are okay. Love the idea and atmosphere. Food is a little pricey for what is offered. Asked about the history of the place because we were really intrigued, and they told us to go read about it on the menu. 😆

Just a fun and inviting Brew Pub with great food, beer, margaritas and great service. The Halfway House Salad is a smaller version of their Big House Salad and is super fresh and crispy with big cucumber chunks and lively veggies. We then opted to split the Veggie Burger featuring their black bean patty but the bonus was, you choose how to dress it from a great variety of burger versions (i.e. "What's your Poblano" with poblano peppers and pepper & pepper jack cheese, the Smash double patty burger, etc.) or our choosing of their Drunk Tank with grilled onions & mushrooms with Swiss cheese on a brioche bun. We selected the Sidewinder Fries and honestly had never seen anything like these swirl-cut babies. Yummy! Now for their beer: Stolen Dreams IPA checked in at 7% alc and about 60 IBU was very refreshing and not over the top. Didn't try the Jailbait Blonde but was certainly intrigued. However the showstopper was their incredible Chango Malo stout with strong hints chocolate and coffee and a fading whisper of coconut. I noticed a touch of cinnamon but wifey disagreed. Either way, it was so good, we took a 32-oz crowler with us to go that was freshly canned on site. Service from our great bartender, Korina that doubled as a table server was flawless, friendly and efficient. What's not to like, unless you experience a little PTSD from their lighthearted prison theme, you should be good to go!
