Customer Review Summary
Dickman's Meat & Deli is highly praised for its quality meats, especially the Ugly Steak, which many consider among the best they've ever had. Customers appreciate the friendly staff and the informative service, with several noting the wide selection of premium products available. However, there are concerns about cleanliness practices among some employees, particularly regarding handling meat without proper hygiene. Some reviews mention a decline in product quality and cleanliness over time, leading to customer dissatisfaction. Prices are viewed as reasonable for the quality offered, although some customers feel they are paying more for inconsistent standards. Overall, while the steak and selection garner enthusiastic recommendations, issues with hygiene and product consistency remain points of contention.

Absolutely the Best! Coming from the Pacific Northwest we are used to first class beef. After retiring and moving to Arizona we couldn’t palet the beef sold at Safeway or Fry’s. It’s as if the beef they sell are old dairy cows that stop producing milk. We tried several butchers in the Tucson area but none of them impressed us. That is until we stumbled across the home of the “Ugly Steak” Dickman’s Meats. They are amazing. Super friendly, explain the different cuts and out of this world taste and quality. Of course we love the Ugly Steak, but we also get the Steak Box and the Deluxe Bundle. Its well worth the hours drive

Michael was wonderful! First time in, made me feel welcome. Got 4 Ugly steaks and 3 Strips. Venison and Elk meat sticks for the kids snacks (they loved them).

Awesome selection, Ugly steak $15.99 / LB, Pheasant sausages $15.99 / 4, Rabbit sausages in white wine $16.99 / 4, El Diablo 40 LB charcoal bag, $26. You pay the price for what you get! Everything is high quality and an amazing selection. I would recommend going to the other location as they have a bigger selection. They butcher game in house there and have way more. Ugly steak is very good. I usually buy one for myself @ 8 oz for ~$8. The ugly steak is by far one of the best steaks I've ever had. It turned almost every non steak enjoyer into an ugly steak lover!

Dickman's has a great variety of meats, seasonings, and the like. I highly recommend checking them out for your meaty and miscellaneous food needs. I have had experiences with some of the employees not being the most friendly, but I accepted that as them being quite busy (because they're so good!). Today, however, I saw a bespectacled, red headed employee pull hair from her shirt and struggle to get it off her hand (which she was using to mix ground beef bare handed). She then placed those same hands that she had removed the hair from her shirt with to mix and place meat into the display case. As I was staring in disbelief, the employee asked if I had been helped. I told her yes and asked about her not washing her hands in these circumstances. When asked about this, the employee was visibly upset and asked if I wanted her to wash her hands. Wanted her? No. Not if it's not normal, just let me know so my expectations aren't outside reality. As a layman, seeing other employees with gloves on may have given me incorrect information about the cleanliness protocols of a butcher shop, namely Dickman's. I can admit that. The gloved employee who made my sandwich today explained that pulling things from your home clothing and removing them with your hands and continuing to work is not frowned upon or abnormal. The employee who asked if I wanted her to wash her hands did so while evidencing her distaste. Learning that this behavior is normal, I asked to apologize to the employee I had spoken with who was now washing her hands, as I did not wish to upset anyone. I was genuinely concerned and appalled that someone would pull dirt or bodily debris (hair) from their personal clothing (employee confirmed uniforms are not sent out for cleaning and are washed at home) and mix and stock meat for customers without even wiping or washing their hands. She declined my apology. Your mileage may vary. I hope it does. P.S. Do cook your meats! Just in case.

Why in the world did you change the supplier for your chicken? I purchased 4 boneless breast and it was over $30 but that’s not the issue. These chicken breast are the size of a medium turkey! You can’t tell me they’re not being shot up with steroids and growth hormones! It doesn’t even look like chicken! I couldn’t eat them, they went straight in the trash. You know most of us go to small butcher shops because we trust that a locally owned establishment is operated like butcher shops when i was a kid. I’ll tell you this, over the last year you’ve lost a lot of my trust, not for one big thing but several little things. The quality of your products haas declined, the cleanliness has declined and the professionalism of the young ladies and men has also slipped.the only thing that hasn’t declined are your prices. Which I’d be willing to pay more if there was a place that actually gave a crap about the product they were putting out. Look at the size of those chicken breast pumped full of steroids!

Service is mediocre but the quality and selection more than make up for it! I love their signature ugly steak, most tender steak I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried all I can find. Prices are reasonable but you’ll be spending a little more than a grocery store to get the butcher quality.
