Customer Review Summary

La Jolla Groves offers an exceptional dining experience with top-quality, flavorful food and impeccable service. The atmosphere is beautiful, featuring unique decor such as a central tree and outdoor dining capsules. While the food is delicious, there were some inconsistencies in wait times and dish temperatures. Price points are higher, but diners appreciate the fine dining quality. Standout dishes include the charcuterie board and pan-seared salmon, although some found the carbonara lacking. Service is highly praised for attentiveness and friendliness. Overall, diners recommend La Jolla Groves for a memorable meal, despite a few negative experiences with specific dishes like the halibut.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing! The food is top-quality and full of flavor, the service is impeccable, and everything is spotless. They speak both Spanish and English, always ensure drinks are refilled, and even gave us fresh bread to take home. My mom, visiting from Spain and used to top-tier restaurants, was amazed—she said it’s one of the best she’s ever been to, and I completely agree! The beautiful decor, great prices, and thoughtful touches, like opening the door for us as we left, made the experience unforgettable. I went with my mom this time, but I can’t wait to come back with my husband!

The place is beautiful, and the tree in the middle of the restaurant adds a unique touch. Plus, they have outdoor dining capsules which are just spectacular. The food was delicious, and the portions were just right. However, it’s true that it took a while to get our food, and my partner’s dish arrived cold. What was strange, though, was that the people who arrived after us got their meals first. The food prices are on the higher side, but we were aware of that when we came in… BUT, one thing to note—don’t even think about ordering a bouquet of flowers for Valentine’s or an anniversary! They’ll charge you an arm and a leg for it.

La Jolla Groves is a nice fine dining experience for a good price. The food here is very delicious. We got the charcuterie board, pan seared salmon, and the carbonara. The charcuterie board was the perfect size for 2 people to share. It had plenty of options of different meats, cheese, fruits, and nuts. The flavor combination of all the ingredients were quite balanced and complimented each other nicely. My wife said her salmon was the best that she has ever had. She said the salmon was cooked to perfection and she was in love with the sauce after her first bite. The sauce has a very distinct fresh and citrusy flavor that compliments the salmon well. The carbonara was good, but I will honestly say it wasn't the best I've had. The pancetta inside the carbonara was definitely the best I've had. The noodles were cooked a tiny bit too long. They were not mushy, but they weren't quite al dente. I also kind of wish the sauce had a bit more parmesan flavor and more salt. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad dish, it just needed a little bit more going on. The service here was honestly phenomenal. Everybody was very kind and attentive and explained everything on the menu when we had questions. My wife's drink did not run out a single time throughout dinner. They were constantly giving her a fresh new drink every time she got low without her having to ask. The atmosphere was very pleasant inside. It kind of makes you think you're sitting in courtyard in Italy under the trees. The decor is well done without being too much. They did a really good job transforming this location into something nice. Also, the restaurant was surprisingly not loud despite there being a decent amount of people dining, which is really awesome. Overall, this place is a must go and we will definitely be returning. Oh, and the lemon drop they give you afterwards is the best lemon drop I've ever had. I don't know if they buy them or make them, but wherever they are from, they are amazing.

La Jolla, gross Aniun, Annie, Donnie, Katie, Chef david, and Chef Nick, I cannot tell you what an amazing experience that we have your restaurant. I love the story about Capri, that is our daughters middle name so I can’t wait to take her there someday. Don’t know how you guys did it but the lemon tree canopy was charming and romantic. We also loved your yellow napkins to match the lemons in the sky. I don’t know where you found those trees, but it made your restaurant so special. You are a local gem. We saw a lot of complaints about your prices, but you are offering a fine dining experience and the food showed it. The steak medallions were cooked perfect. A splash of Sherry in my mushroom soup really brought out the flavors. I WOULD RECOMMEND

I LOVE La Jolla, it's such a great experience every time. Everything I've eaten here is amazing; with the exception of the Lamb Shank. It isn't bad, in fact there's not much of anything to it because honestly it's terribly bland. If you were to ask me if I'd give it a second chance, I shouldn't think so. That being said the beef is excellent, as is every other thing on the menu. I think you'd be hard pressed to find better service, the wait staff here is second to none. Preston in particular was a delight, I'll be certain to ask for him in future. I had the pleasure of speaking with the General Manager, and she was fabulous. In regards to the atmosphere, imagine this: It's late August and you're on the Italian coast. It's 2:30pm and after a day on the water in a wooden boat, you step ashore to dry off, and head up to the orchard for lunch. You head outside and smell the salt-breeze, feel it blow through your linen shirt, cooling you off as you sit down to a table under a canopy of lemon trees, their yellow ornaments dangling above you. Life is perfect.

We went to dinner on a Tuesday evening and know they have a fantastic chef Nick. The food was very wonderful. I think next time we go I’ll order the chefs special. Loved what I got. Lemon cake was above par. We will be back. Thank you for a fantastic meal atmosphere and excellent service. Wish I got a picture of the lemon cake and mocktail strawberry mojito.

My boyfriend and I have come here twice for our anniversary now, and the food is always top notch, the servers are very attentive and friendly, and we always get a cheesecake and gift from the chef on the house since we’re celebrating something special. The ingredients are always very fresh and delicious. They also have a full bar with some great mixed drinks as well. It’s always clean, beautiful, and is a great place for fancy or casual dining at a higher price and quality. The bruschetta was also extremely delicious, my mango smoothie, the tenderloins, the salmon, and the shrimp scampi. The petite wedge salad was great as well, definitely ask the server for their recommendations. Thanks for all the great service and helping our day to be special!

We ordered the halibut and the chicken tortellini. We were pleasantly surprised by the tortellini and extremely disappointed in the halibut. I do not recommend anyone ever getting the halibut—it’s tasteless and dry (how do you make fish dry?). But it’s a good meal for a gym rat.
