We had the burger and pasta. Not a huge wait when we arrived but more people came in and they left due to the large wait time since their dining area is quite small and it filled fast. Anyways the food was great. Pasta sauce was flavorful and the burger was juicy. Fries were ok but would have been better paired with fry sauce rather than plain ole ketchup. Overall great place to eat, food is exceptional just be prepared for it to be crowded or come at a time of day that isn’t a rush hour for lunch or dinner.

Wife, son & I had a wonderful Friday dinner at Communal. We didn’t have reservations, but one of the very friendly managers seated us at the bar top & said it was his favorite place. We loved it! Watching & chatting with the patient master chef as he expertly prepared several amazing dishes was great fun & very educational. Wife had the Tamarin Glazed Chicken but could not stop raving about the Roasted Carrots. Son devoured the delicious Watermelon starter & the formidable Pork Chop Schnitzel. I savored a trout special called Pescado Veracruz with very tasty Fried Garlic Rice. The Halibut also looked great. We were all too full, but the dessert menu looked fabulous. Great atmosphere & interesting art & decor. By no means inexpensive, but worth every penny.

Small cozy location, attentive wait staff, coupled with amazing food, and the ambience of a casual fine dining experience near Main Street Provo. The wait staff answered any questions we had, and accommodated substitution requests as needed. There was not one time our glasses had the chance to near empty. The hangar steak was tender, juice, charred to perfection, and cooked a perfect medium rare as requested. The demi glace sauce enhancing and complimenting the subtle yet complex flavors of the steak. Topped with some perfectly crispy fried onion rings to complement the delicious protein with the perfect amount of carby deliciousness. The broccoli was drizzled perfectly with a savior sauce and feta. Perfectly charred, full of flavor, and fresher than I've had in a long time. The perfect gentle bite enhancing the texture, and ensuring every bite was mouthwateringly satisfying. The cabbage was similar to the broccoli in its perfection, coated with some delicious sauce, almonds, etc. The perfect complement to the meal we ordered. My wife described the funeral potatoes as the perfect thinly sliced hash brown, enhanced by a mouthwateringly simple yet delectable sauce. A sure favorite for anyone! The house pasta was a feta stuffed hand made pasta, with a seafood infusion in the sauce. Savory to the last bite, devoured in less time than it took to decide to order it. The roujan potatoes were perfectly seasoned, and creamed. Not a single bite was discarded. A portion not only perfect for sharing however so well balanced and complementing to each menu item we tasted. The charcuterie board was a blend of delicious savory meat, fresh kraut, and so much more. The perfect appetizer to start, share, and prepare for the food to follow. To finish off the perfect meal order the apple tart with the perfect brown sugar ice cream on top, or the house made butterscotch pudding that will leave any butterscotch or caramel fan drooling for more every time!

Great place with a good atmosphere. The food was good. It was fun watching the head chef work with the other chefs. My only complaint was all our food was cold when delivered which was a bummer. If you go, get the brussel sprouts for starter and squash for your vegetable with your entree.

We ended up going here for dinner with some friends when the restaurant we originally wanted to go to had already closed for the night. Communal was just across the stress so we went to try it. It's a lot more expensive than we were planning on. The food was good and the atmosphere was cozy. I don't feel the food was worth the price though. If I'm paying $30-$40 for a dish, and it doesn't include a side, I expect the food to be really good. My favorite part of my meal was the salad. I would go back just to eat the salad and nothing else.

Communal Layout/atmosphere *Open kitchen; tables; small counter area; stained glass above entrance; few parking spots around the corner Service *Food took a little extra time to prepare but it was worth it Food/drink *Sourdough Skillet Pancake (banana, walnut, maple miso cinnamon butter) - amazing; all the different flavors could be tasted; emphasis on the “cake” with regards to pancake but it absorbed all the toppings and wasn’t dried out *Funeral Potatoes Benedict (two poached eggs, potato rosti, mornay, chives, olive oil) - delicious; potato was one big, crispy hash brown; richness from the egg yolks and the mornay

Solid 5 star experience. Excellent food, friendly and fun service, nice theme. Sharing a meal together is taken a bit further here, you're encouraged to share the food and eat together, not necessarily ordering one dish per person. It works, sharing food is both fun and a chance to try plenty of different things on the menu. The food itself was excellent; well prepared and well proportioned, excellent flavours and textures exciting presentation and plenty to go around. For a group this is really worth a visit, 6 was a good size. Booking is probably essential as it's busy. Give it a go, you won't regret it

One of the best meals I’ve ever had! Provo, you’ve outdone yourself! Chad recommended the house-made ginger ale and it didn’t disappoint. I might have called it a ginger limeade, but it was great. Don’t sleep on the bread service because these rolls were delicious. We started off with the charcuterie board and the watermelon salad. I’m not normally a big fan of paté, but this one was delicious. Loved the jam too. The watermelon salad with feta, pistachios and sliced jalapeños was out of this world good. Get the grilled hangar steak. I’m usually a steak snob, but this one was tender on the inside and flavorful and with a great crust on the outside. We paired the steak with the roasted corn and the funeral potato rosti and everything was so excellent. Save room for the almond cake with coconut gelato. Thanks for making our anniversary so special. We’ll be back!
