About Ruth's Chris Steak House - steak house in Warren, Michigan

Outpost of upmarket steakhouse chain known for sizzling, butter-topped beef in an elegant setting

Customer Review Summary

Ruth's Chris Steak House offers a premium dining experience with quality USDA Prime cuts of beef. The restaurant has a tight but friendly front desk, and while valet parking can be slow, the overall ambiance is perfect for romantic occasions. Food is generally well-received, with highlights like the sweet potato casserole and crab cakes. However, some patrons noted cleanliness issues, particularly with wall stains, and a lack of professionalism from staff at times, such as abrupt service interruptions. Guests appreciated the attentive service from staff like Jenna, but there were complaints about the lack of a dress code and excessive butter in dishes. Some customers experienced poor service and no follow-up on requests, leading to disappointment, while others had issues with how guests were dressed in a fine dining setting. Overall, experiences vary, with many recommending the restaurant for its quality food and pleasant atmosphere, despite some service hiccups.

Ruth's Chris Steak House This has been on my list for years. Finally got in. Don’t get me wrong, I could come any day, but to get a RSVP on Valentine’s Day is nearly impossible. Oddly the front desk area is very tight but friendly. The seating area is wide open. They have valet too. A little pricey compared to many steak establishments but worth the money. You get what you pay for. My steak was cooked medium and served on a 500F HOT plate and sizzling. No issues. Was expecting more for a $75 steak meal or better. Really wanted the PORTERHOUSE FOR TWO. I know the meat is considered the best in the country. “They use USDA Prime cuts of beef, which is considered the best quality in the United States”. I had the New York bone-in steak(Ruth’s favorite). My wife had the surf and turf (with two Jumbo lobster tail). Bread and butter were soft, good and perfect. All were delicious. I loved the crab cakes(served on 500F plate). Excellent. It was a dinning experience. Good staff. Quiet atmosphere. A welcome restaurant. A mix of guest. Great place for a quiet romantic date or event. Perfect evening. Will come again. Highly recommended

Steak was good, service was great, but the wall next to my table was gross. Looks like blood splattered on it. For a place so nice it was disappointing. I didn't complain because I just don't like complaining but they can definitely improve the cleanliness. But the highlight of the visit was the sweet potatoe casserole.

Jenna was amazing. She provided excellent service mixed with small moments of pleasant conversation. Jenna was also well versed with the menu and very attentive to our needs. We didn't have to ask for anything and she was right on top of things.

Celebrated our anniversary dinner here. The reservation app allowed us to schedule a reservation at the time of close which was weird. The restaurant called to ensure that we arrived earlier prior to closing. They accommodated us well and we did not feel rushed and the food was still great quality. The restaurant esthetic is gorgeous. We will visit again!

We came here with a reservation for dinner. First, we tried to use valet parking, but we waited several minutes and no one came to help us. We parked and walked, no big deal. Money saved. After checking in, 10 minutes early, we were told we would have to wait for a table. We stood in the lobby by the freezing cold door and waited. Slightly irritating. We were seated. Our server came promptly and started explaining the menu, as we had never been there before. In the middle of her explanation, another server called her over. She abruptly left in the middle of speaking to us. Unprofessional and odd. She returned. I ordered a cocktail, which was very good. My steak came perfectly cooked and very tender. My husband enjoyed his steak too. The salad was excellent and the mashed potatoes were good, but they were swimming in butter. The whole meal was swimming in butter, except the salad. We dressed in business attire for our meal, and it felt awkward to be dressed up for an over $200 dinner while some other patrons were wearing jeans and frayed flannel or leggings and t-shirts. I wish there was a dress code. Our server was attentive and the food was good, but overall we were not wowed by our experience. If I had to sum up Ruth’s Chris in one word it would be this: Butter.

Well, if you follow me, you know that if in a city/state that has a Ruth's Chris (RC), I'm going. I went. I was disappointed. It pains me to even say it. I've only had 1 bad experience at an RC, and that was in San Antonio. Well, we have somehow circled back around to a bad 1. This time, in Detroit, Michigan. Well, technically, it's in Troy, MI, which is a little suburb outside of Detroit. Service was slim to none. 1. We asked for more bread. We never received it. 2. When I made my initial order, I was very detailed and requested extra croutons with my salad and A1 for my steak. Neither came out. 3. Our table was cleaned once. Yet, our empty bread plate, appetizer plates, salad bowls, and used napkins were plentiful on our table. I stacked them to make room. 4. Our guy was rarely seen. He popped up to ask about dessert and the check. You know, at times when it was obvious that you were possibly waiting on someone or something. 5. Not a service complaint, but it was extremely dark in there. I know a certain ambiance is expected, but almost everybody in there pulled their phone out to read the menu. I didn't because I just knew it so well, but damn RC turn on the lights. Don't Teddy Pendergrass me.

SALMON & SHRIMP* 46 lightly blackened, topped with shrimp & new orleans bbq butter, Lobster Bisque, and mash potatoes. Reservations for my Birthday. Everything taste great. They gave cheese cake for your Birthday, it tasted great also.

Went to the restaurant last night for a birthday dinner and I was greeted at the door by one of the associates. They informed me that my guest would have to cover up her top in order to be seated. Her clothes wasn’t revealing and she wasn’t dressed inappropriately but that was strange. So he said she couldn’t sit in the main area but if we want to we can sit in the bar area. When asked to zip up her jacket we refused and he told us we couldn’t be seated so we left. Didn’t want to spend my money in a place that was being prejudice. I don’t remember his name but he was a foreigner man with a suit on at the door, maybe a host.
