Customer Review Summary
Rochester Chop House & Bar features an oyster bar up front and a more elegant chophouse in the back. Guests enjoy a variety of well-prepared dishes, including standout items like the 14-ounce Delmonico steak, whitefish, and crab-stuffed mushrooms. Service experiences vary; some patrons rave about attentive staff, while others report lackluster service or disorganized orders. The restaurant has a vibrant atmosphere, often busy, ideal for both casual outings and special occasions. While many reviews highlight the quality of food, a few mention issues such as small tables for two and disappointing appetizers. Desserts, particularly the crème brûlée, receive high praise. Overall, the restaurant is well-regarded, though some diners feel it could improve in certain areas, particularly consistency in service and management.

Visited for an early dinner on a Sunday and had a really nice meal. I believe the restaurant is split into two parts, the oyster bar up front and chophouse in the back. We ate in the oyster bar section, but I believe we still had access to the full menu, because we ordered the 14 ounce Delmonico and the whitefish, which was on special. The seating up front is much more casual, for four tops and dates or sitting at the bar. The chophouse seating in the back seemed more elegant from a glance, for families or special occasions etc. We started our meal with some really fantastic bread for the table, soft inside with crispy edges and herb topping. The steak was cooked to temp, typical amount of chewy fat to discard. We added on the Excalibur sauce, but I wasn't a fan - would skip next time. Honestly, I'd save some of the bread butter melt on top of the steak. Mashed potatoes on the side were a hit too. The whitefish we ordered on special was broiled perfectly and served with green beans. No complaints about the food or service. They had some seasonal cocktails and I ordered one, but I might just get a classic cocktail from the bar next time. It was alright, but I'd like to see what else the bar can do. Our waitress was totally chill and all of our food was correct. This was our first visit and I feel we will be back to try more steak and seafood.

We sat at the bar for drinks and apps. The stuffed mushrooms were delicious, lots of crab meat, served in a little cast iron skillet. The crab cakes were also delicious, maybe a little too much filler. The drinks were solid. It was Saturday night and this place was super busy. Great friendly atmosphere and good service.

I liked the restaurant, but the tables for 2 are too small and the chairs are different sizes so there’s no eye level communication with the other person. The starter was cold and the glass of water dirty and had things dancing in there. Crème brûlée was great!

Came here to celebrate my birthday. Been here before and it was OK but Shannon’s service tonight took our night over the top. 10/10 would recommend. Thank you!

My boyfriend and I came here for the first time last after walking around the Rochester lights and I could not be more happy that we did. I loved everything about the old school expensive atmosphere, if that makes sense lol (I love places that look like the mafia once frequented). Every waitstaff we came in contact with was very courteous. Our actually waiter, Jonathan was amazing. He answered all of our questions, was very friendly and helpful, just overall went above and beyond. Then of course, the food. There wasn’t a bite that we had that we didn’t love. Started with the scallop and pork belly appetizer, then got the 14 oz. Delmonico, med-rare as the Lord intended lol SO SO GOOD. We also added on twin lobster tails, tender, sweet, delicious. The bread and bean salad that comes in the beginning. To die for. So simple yet could not stop eating it. For dessert, the Vanilla crepe brûlée, the carmelized sugar crust, perfection, the crème was smooth, and couldn’t be better.

We had Riley as our server. She seemed to bring having an off day, or maybe she just doesn’t like her job. She didn’t bring our soups out before our dinner, she brought them with. Never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks, but man was she quick to bring that bill and check our table out. As for the food, I had the fish tacos. It states that there is guacamole on the tacos. The squirted line of fake guacamole on my taco was the size of a toothpick. The food was a total disappointment. The mushroom forest soup was very good though. The clam chowder was very salty. This place has gone down hill, into the dumps. Don’t waste your hard earned money on this place. They need new management and better people in the kitchen.

First time coming here. Our waitress Alisha was awesome! Very accomadating. Chill atmosphere. They provide a salad with a bread basket. For appetizers, we had the wrapped bacon shrimp with honey crackle BBQ sauce. I ordered the 12oz Delmonico medium well with a side of mashed potatoes and shrimp. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the mashed potatoes were my favorite! For dessert, we had the vanilla Creme brulee and their signature special, which I believe was a cream puff with ice cream. Highly recommended.

I recently dined at Rochester Chop House & Bar. The service was decent, and the overall experience was enjoyable. The highlight was the amazing food, but the Caesar salad had a somewhat overpowering horseradish taste, which detracted from its overall appeal.
