About Jim's Steak House - steak house in Peoria, Illinois
Customer Review Summary
Jim's Steak House offers a beautiful dining atmosphere, especially enhanced by holiday decorations. Many guests praise the fantastic food and great service, with specific mention of the flavorful steaks and the Cajun ribeye. However, some reviews highlight inconsistencies in food quality, with one guest describing a disappointing experience where multiple steak dishes were poorly cooked. While the ambiance is generally appealing, some diners noted issues with noise levels when crowded and dated decor. A few patrons cautioned about the higher prices and mixed experiences with appetizers, but many still found the overall dining experience worth it, particularly for special occasions. Reservations are recommended for quieter dining options.

Such a beautiful Steakhouse and with the Christmas decorations it is just gorgeous!!! This was our first time at this Steakhouse in Peoria as we normally go to the Bloomington location. The food was fantastic as always and the service was great! The only thing that made me raise an eyebrow is why we had to pay extra money for their house Brittany salad dressing?

Beautiful!!! I haven't been in years and it is just like I remembered. Very elegant and delicious dining!!!! Lisa was absolutely amazing! She took wonderful care of my husband and I! We will be back for our next anniversary! Heads up to those who have never been, it can be on the expensive side. But I promise it's worth it!!!! Thank you for such a wonderful night!

This was my first time eating here. Grew up in Peoria area and moved back after retirement. We were part of a group of 30 and had the 3rd floor dining area. Food and desert was good/ok, but pricey. Street parking only. Had to park about a block away. Other places just as good in Peoria without the downtown issues.

This place is a hidden gem! I had the Cajun ribeye, baked potato, and salad with their famous “Brittney” dressing. The sear and season on the steak was unbelievable. Great service, the bartender was very friendly and easy to talk to, and a relaxing environment. Definitely going back next time I’m in town!

Such a disappointing meal here. The place is dated, but has some old school charm. The service while very polite waitresses, felt so rushed even though it was empty that it wasn't enjoyable. And for the main event on the food, it was seriously bad. I had a fillet steak and had to send it back to the kitchen 2 times because it was raw in the middle, and on the 3rd time it still wasn't great, but by this time I just gave up. It was burnt on the outside and raw in the middle. The waitress explained the usual chef was off sick and the owners son was cooking that day. What a bad decision as he clearly did not have the skill to cook a steak, especially at this level. He needs to learn to use a temp probe. As for the salad it was so basic and looked like it was plated by a 5 year old. The bread roles were bland and the fries just frozen ones cooked up. They did remove the price of the steak off the bill, but it wasn't about that! I wanted a quality steak Dinner in a nice restaurant. Sadly this was not it. Unlikely to return again when I visit Peoria next time.

The steak house is a beautiful place, lots of historical memorabilia. A great place for a date night or hosting an event. It can get quite loud in there when packed and the acoustics don't help with isolation from the overwhelming noise. Luckily, if you're party wants some quiet while dining so you can actually converse, they do have a limited number of private areas which you should request in advance part of your reservation. The holiday decorations still up end of February were too tacky for our taste however. The place is beautiful by itself without the fake holiday flower decorations.

50+ year old, classic supper club and steak house. Tons of history with hundreds of celebrity photos on the wall who have visited over the years. Steaks had great flavor, cooked perfectly, big portions, great value and atmosphere. Excellent wine selection and specials. Jim's Steak House in Peoria is a 100% must visit.

We were visiting home for the week because we were getting married and decided to go out for a nice dinner before we did the deed, and picked Jim’s Steakhouse! We didn’t have reservations but they still seated us promptly which was nice. Our server was nice as well. There was live piano music which was great. Good atmosphere. Food wise, it was decent but not outstanding. The appetisers we got were awful. We got a half dozen oysters that were from Chesapeake Bay and then escargot. The oysters were almost inedible. They had no flavour, they looked sad, and we were actually uncomfortable enough eating them we only ate four of the six. The escargot was over cooked and also had no flavour. It was really disappointing for what we paid for it. Everything else was pretty solid. The wedge salad and a nice garlic dressing and the bleu cheese was decent. We each got a steak cooked medium rare, which ended up being pretty good. We got their special side of the night which was a loaded mashed Yukon gold potato which was great. I also got carrots which were okay, and he got the side of pasta which was also nothing special. All in all, we would probably come back just for the steak but not for anything else.
