About Wagyukushi - steak house in Honolulu, Hawaii
Customer Review Summary
Wagyukushi serves thinly sliced wagyu beef skewers accompanied by rice and salad. The outdoor seating is shared with other eateries near Don Quixote. While the beef tastes good and is reasonably priced, its quality does not match premium wagyu. Customers note that the restaurant's hours may be unreliable and that orders take over 15 minutes to prepare. There are mixed opinions about the authenticity of the wagyu, with some calling it an overused marketing term. However, many reviews highlight the tasty flavor of the beef, even if it lacks the melt-in-the-mouth experience associated with high-quality wagyu. The restaurant's sauce is generally well-received but described as light and not particularly spicy. The atmosphere has its downsides, with cleanliness and shade varying, and some diners recommending takeout to avoid pigeons. Despite criticisms, many patrons praise the skewers as flavorful and juicy, making Wagyukushi a recommended stop for affordable dining downtown. Overall, the meal is considered a decent value, and the staff is described as friendly.

Thinly sliced wagyu beef skewers were served here. The plate comes with two skewers with rice and salad. There were outdoor seatings shared by several eateries outside of Don Quixote. The beef tasted good and the price was reasonable, but the quality of the beef wasn’t the best, which was expected here.

Do not trust their hours. They will close earlier than 7pm. This is obviously not real Wagyu but it was still delicious with their signature sauce. Will take 15min+ to receive your order.

‘wagyu’ has become the most overused marketing gimmick for food recently. There is no wagyu police going around enforcing authenticity. Now with that said, my plate with rice and salad tasted great, and at less than 15bucks, a good deal. they are clever in their prep, can’t really tell if its wagyu or not but it is good. cook any thinly sliced beef in butter and beef tallow and you will get good taste. so i really don’t care if its wagyu or not. as for the eating atmosphere, you are gonna have to fight the dirty pigeons assaulting you as you dine. maybe best to get it to go if you want to eat in a cleaner environment. also, your order will take a long time so put the order in, then browse through don quiote. as for their sauce, not sure what the hype is, just a light oniony soy based vinegrett with a bit of wasabi. its good but no need to buy extra imo.

Even American has many grades. The wagyu here is ok. It doesn't melt in the mouth like good wagyu ( not much marbling). The wagyu here some flavor. The skewers is a whole stick of beef. It is beef squares stacked up together ( kind of think like how composite wood is). Since it is thinly sliced meat stacked, it was cooked throughly. I was provided with fresh skewers even though I came after the lunch rush. This place is part of the food court in front of Donkie. The seating can vary in cleanliness and vary in the level of shade. Some spots were in the sun.

Wow! I've passed this place so many times and always thought to try it. Am so glad I finally did because it's DELICIOUS! It's tasty, juicy, rich, and just sooo good! The Wasabi sauce is really not spicy at all, which was a little disappointing, but it did add more flavor to the skewers (you don't need to buy extra; they charge extra for more of the same thats included). A must once in a while since it's a bit on the fatty side.

Simple, affordable and delicious! This place is a must try if you are down town. The meat is skewered and cooked in a way that makes every bite juicy and flavorful. Location is right next to a Don Quijote parking can be a little bit hard to find, but there is a parking structure across the street or paid parking on the street.

False advertisement: “melt-in-the -mouth wagyu beef”… do not fall to this. Despite this, the meat is still good. The meat is thinly sliced and packed onto skewers. It was perfectly grilled and seasoned well. Got the plate which consist with rice, green salad on its side, two different sauce and two skewers. For $12.99 (before tax) it was a decent meal with wagyu on it. There’s two staff you gotta deal; the cook and the cashier. They were both friendly and approachable. Btw, as of this writing they offer samples which is a good tactics when your business has just started (grand opening was 12/1/2022). Would love to come back here!

It's been weeks and I'm still thinking about this skewer. It was so good. Also definitely dip it in the sauce. I don't even like wasabi but it tasted so good together.
