About Duke's Waikiki - steak house in Honolulu, Hawaii

Popular option known for its beachfront location, surf 'n' turf, tiki vibe & umbrella drinks.

Customer Review Summary

Duke's Waikiki offers a vibrant atmosphere, especially during happy hour with live music, but can be crowded and may not suit those seeking a quiet dinner. The breakfast buffet is highly praised, featuring excellent service, beautiful views, and fresh, delicious food at reasonable prices. Reservations are strongly recommended, especially for sunset views and special occasions, as the restaurant tends to be packed. While some menu items, like crab wontons and poke tacos, are highly recommended, others feel overpriced and underwhelming. Service is consistently noted as a strong point, with staff providing attentive and personable service in a beautiful beachfront setting. However, there can be confusion regarding menu options and drink policies when seated outside.

I visited for the first time and I have to say that the food was really good, great customer service, the cocktails were overpriced and with barely any liquor, Duke’s it’s more of a party vibe from 4:45-6:30pm, they had live music during those hours, if you’re looking for a nice quiet dinner, this won’t be it. Very crowded, however; the sunset is really pretty from this location. Highly recommend that you make a reservation in advance.

My absolute favorite place to have breakfast in Oahu!! The service was excellent and breakfast buffet too! The view is beautiful. We had oceaview seating. Highly recommend!! You will not be disappointed. Amazing restaurant, just like the incredible man it was named after ❤️

While staying at the Waikiki outrigger, we ate at Dukes several times. We were never disappointed in the food. The service was great and the food was really good. You can sit inside or outside, but I would suggest sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful weather and ocean breeze.

Had a great experience for breakfast buffet there. They lead you to your seat and take orders for drinks and omelets, with frequent attention after that. Food is very delicious, freshly made. Like the fried rice most. There are local fruits as well. Price is very reasonable (affordable).

We made reservations well in advance so that we could celebrate our honeymoon. I requested a seat outside with a view of the sunset and the staff definitely delivered. We had a beautiful table with a view of the sunset. Our server, Lucy, and food were great. They even gave us a complementary dessert because we were celebrating our honeymoon, which was a very nice touch. I would definitely recommend. I would make sure you get reservations though because it was absolutely packed.

Very touristy, but worth it. Staff and service were five stars. Everyone knew their role and executed perfectly. Everything we had was good but crab wontons, poke tacos, and fresh catch fish are highly recommended. The hula pie is a must. Do not miss out. Very highly recommend reservations and choose an hour before sunset. You will get a great dinner and view.

I'm giving the overall experience 5 stars, but the food only 3. The menu features mostly bar-style food, which isn't bad, but it felt overpriced for what it was. I had the fish and chips, and while it was okay, the fish was a bit dry—I've definitely had better for half the price. There was also a buffet-style option, though we didn’t try it. We sat at the bar and were lucky to get two seats together right before the football game started. It ended up being the perfect spot—my husband could watch the game while I enjoyed the beautiful beach views. The highlight of our visit was our incredible bartender, Lisa. She was personable, remembered our names, and kept up with the fast-paced environment while quickly preparing drinks—something not everyone can manage. Her exceptional service made our visit even more enjoyable, and we made sure to tip her well. The location is fantastic, located in the Outrigger Hotel with stunning beach views and a laid-back tiki/beach vibe. Despite the food being just okay, the overall experience was so great that we’ll definitely return when we’re back in Honolulu!

As a customer and group of 7 needing to be seated, it should have been explained that the drinks purchased inside the restaurant can NOT be carried outside on the patio (due to liquor license issues) and that the menu is different from the inside restaurant and the outdoor patio. We did NOT want bar-style food (the inside menu has more tasty-looking seafood dishes to choose from) which is what we had to settle for after the 30-minute wait.
