Customer Review Summary

Casa Matilda has received mixed reviews from diners. Several patrons expressed disappointment with the service, particularly on Valentine's Day, citing issues like delayed food and inattentive staff. Complaints included valet parking troubles and a lack of coordination among the waitstaff, leading to a neglectful dining experience. On the other hand, some diners praised the atmosphere and decor, describing it as beautiful and reminiscent of Tulum. Food quality was uneven; while some enjoyed specific dishes like ceviche and ribeye, others found the meals underwhelming or overpriced. The service experience varied widely—some found their servers attentive and helpful, while others felt neglected. Despite the negative experiences, there were positive comments about the ambiance and overall vibe of the restaurant. A few reviewers noted that they would consider returning, though with different menu choices in hopes of a better dining experience.

I regret choosing Casa Matilda for our valentines diner celebration 😒 our first Red flag 🚩 was the valet parking service! We parked next to the umbrella but no one was there to park the car. We went inside and they told us to go back outside to wait for the driver that he was probably picking someone’s car. So I went outside and my wife went to our table, I waited for about 7 minutes until shows up then he told me it’s $25 Dollars, cash? Or Zelle to me but have to be right now! I told him I usually pay on my way out and he said no, you pay first here. Then I went inside to meet my wife and at the very beginning everything was looking good, they were bringing our drinks and appetizers with a good timing but after we finished eating our appetizers we began to the people from other tables complaining about the service, the food and others because they were feeling neglected and as soon as I noticed all that I told my wife, I hope we don’t get a bad experience here tonight like those people! And we ended up being neglected as well. Our waitresses were going everywhere and spending most of the time near the bar doing who knows what but clearly she forgot about us and she was not the only one doing it, I saw their manager running like a chicken going from table to table talking to like five different tables, they all complained about something last night on Valentine’s Day. This restaurant needs a whole bunch of new stuff because the people working last night, all of them were just doing a terrible job, neglecting customers, bringing the food super late and they couldn’t read the body language of the people seated bored and waiting for someone to come over. This restaurant needs implement a better system because they don’t know what they are doing and specifically on a night that was very important for all of us eating there on Valentine’s Day. They need more valet drivers, they need a person to coordinate and watch over all the waitresses and waiters so they won’t neglect anyone and also to make sure customers are getting a good service CONSISTENTLY! We are Very,Very Disappointed and this restaurant is now on my Not to Go List! This restaurant looks beautiful decorated but when the service is horrible in general, no decoration or music will make things better. One start review is what this restaurant gets from us!

This place is gorgeous! The atmosphere and service here was top notch for sure! I'm not sure the food along with the price they bring is up to the same level. And maybe it was just what I ordered, I got the half chicken and it was just decent. Actually the sliders we had before the main course were better. Anyway I would give it another shot and get a steak instead, but you know I was just trying something different. Oh and they tell you the sides are sharable, but I disagree.

We enjoyed Casa Matilda. The service was good, the waitress came often to check up on us as well as the Manager. The food was delicious; watermelon feta, heirloom tomatoes and ceviche. The bone in ribeye was also good! We enjoyed the DJ!

Birthday Dinner with family & I was looking for something different. Casa Matilde did not disappoint. Beautifully decorated from the moment you step in your transported to Tulum. The service was amazing. Friendly & helpful whilst providing suggestions over the vast menu options. Eliel helped us all with our picks, and I loved everything we had from the Shrjmp, Octopus, Wagyu Burgers to the Crab Enchiladas, Ribeye & Lobster Truffle Mac n Cheese. I would definitely recommend & return myself. Thank for a beautiful experience.

This place was truly a vibe and a wonderful experience for me and my family have a very fancy dinner. The ambience is nicely, dim lit beautiful decor, and we came at the perfect time for a nice quiet dinner to where we had, what felt like, the restaurant all to ourselves. But if you looking for something a little lively this restaurant also has that too. Because as we were finishing dinner, it started to get jumping lol. The food was amazing, The staff were extremely helpful, courteous and pleasant. I will definitely make my way back to Casa Matilda for food and drinks will recommend to.

I’ve paid $14 for 3 pieces of asparagus before but it usually comes with quality taste and reasonable service. Maybe it was just because it was a busy Valentine’s Day. But this was a terrible experience for everyone in the restaurant. Other tables were talking to each other because we couldn’t get water, much-less our food. In the end, I walked my credit card to the waiter and requested he just let me leave.

Came here to celebrate a Birthday- our server was attentive, kind and gave great recommendations. The food was everything I dreamed of as well as the drinks. Definitely recommend the Spicy Duke cocktail

The vibe of the place was stunning, as someone who has been in Tulum this place fits the vibe. Before entering the restaurant the hostess asked my brother to remove his hat 🧢 so be aware there is a dress code. The service was excellent from start to finish Stephanie made sure we were taken care of. The food was ok at best. We had the risotto, which I love, the tomato confit, which tasted so good. My brother ordered the rib eye and it lacked seasoning. The accompanying sauce helped but did not save the dish. The chicken pibil was dry and the green salsa was meh. The sliders were acceptable and the skirt stake was average. As per dessert the churros were a bit hard but the chocolate and caramel sauces that came with it were great. The horchata tres leches were very sweet and just ok in flavor. We paid close to $400 for a party of 3. Overall, it was nice experience but the food lacked.
