Customer Review Summary
Monkey Bar Steak & Seafood offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, ideal for meeting new people. Many customers praised the delicious food, especially the Monkey Steak and Black and Blue Salad. However, service quality was inconsistent; while some enjoyed excellent service from attentive staff, others faced long waits and inattentive service. Several diners noted issues with reservations and seating, particularly for outdoor tables, which seemed to favor locals. Positive mentions were made of live entertainment and the staff's outstanding customer service, especially a server named Steven, who was highlighted for his attentiveness and humor. Despite some negative experiences related to food quality and service lapses, others expressed a desire to return, especially due to the enjoyable atmosphere and overall food experience. Overall, while there are mixed reviews regarding service and wait times, the food and specific staff members received high praise.

This was a first stop for food after arriving in Cape Coral. It was located a short distance from the airbnb that we had reserved for the week. It's not a very large establishment but seemed to have plenty of seating and parking. We took a table outside along the sidewalk. Best move ever. We met people immediately, from Wisconsin, at the next two tables, had conversations with them while we were there, and even exchanged phone numbers with a few, who helped us get to know Cape Coral better through their years of experiences there. The atmosphere at the Monkey Bar is so relaxed and friendly that such a meeting of strangers seems like the norm, and not the exception. Food was delicious. I got the Monkey Steak (think Philly Steak) with potato salad and my husband got a Mushroom Swiss burger with fries. SO GOOD! Our server was super friendly and attentive. She seemed to really enjoy her job, and her customers.

We made online reservations at 8:30. We checked in with the hosts at 5:30 to tell her we were there early. She told us the wait would be 45 minutes.. As we stood there in line waiting, it appeared the locals were seated before us. As they approached the hostess, she hugged them and called them by name. Each time I checked in to see how much longer she kept referring to our 830 reservation. We’ll never know if the food was good or not since we didn’t bother to wait past 90 minutes. If you’re visiting from out of town, good luck getting a seat outdoors! As we walk to our car, we observed two empty tables where we could’ve been seated.

Black and Blue Salad was worth every penny. The drinks were high priced and very weak...like I'm a light weight and 2 is generally my limit but I had four and not even a light buzz. The service was slow to start and didn't get friendly till the end, to be fair the server admitted to being out way too late the night before so that was probably a one off. It is nice to be able to sit outside but the view is of the parking lot so not really that special. Would I get the salad again? Yes...but probably to go.

Had a horrible experience - asked to be seated inside (it was cold and the heaters weren’t in); we were sat right in front is the band and it was windy; waiter came 39 minutes after food ordered and didn’t have ingredient for what I ordered (not his fault); food was good except the wind o picked over my eater into my food and ruined it; the bus boy that came to clean up was extremely rude like it was my fault; the waiter was exceptional - all I wanted was out is there. And I paid for the food I didn’t get to eat. Will not be back band was good. This was Sunday night March 2.

Food was excellent. Go early, it gets busy. Had pork chop and it was fabulous.

Gene, if you truly wanted to know why we tipped you 10% on a $300 tab, you might have stayed for the answer rather than walking away. Where were you when another server cleared our plates and my dinner was basically being thrown out and no one, including you, ever asked “how was your dinner? Was something wrong? “. Nothing. Not until you questioned the tip (“To Insure Proper Service in case you forgot). No one brought water or cleared the dirty dishes from empty drinks, appetizers. Ordered coffee with dessert, which you appeared bothered when we indicated we would like dessert, and the coffee was never brought. You stated, “Coffee is freshly brewed but I forgot to bring it - do you want it?” Not after our dessert is GONE! Waiting tables is hard work. You think that if you take an order, put it in, deliver it that you have done your job. Wrong. My husband’s fillet was very rare rather than medium rare. Steve took it back, you were nowhere to be found, and got it refired, which was done beautifully but you never knew anything or didn’t care as you never said or did anything. My chicken Marsala was awful. Who puts cheddar cheese on Marsala? But you never knew as you never checked if everything was okay and some other server cleared our plates and she didn’t ask why my plate was full. We have been going to the Monkey Bar for over 20 years. The food and service used to be excellent. But obviously the number of people who come and go no longer requires the need for providing quality food and excellent service. I am guessing my review will be ignored just as our table was. We will not be back and that will probably be scoffed. The passion of the owner is gone. The employees that have been there for years and years are not required to perform to a level of excellence. So be it. I can only voice my concerns and opt to go to any of the many other establishments in Cape Coral and avoid another return to the Monkey Bar.

This place is exceptional and knows the true meaning of customer service. Steven our server was friendly and efficient. Even though our dinner was late being served the way management/owner took care of us deserves a high rating. They comped the entire meal. We will be back. Customer service is outstanding, food was delicious and Steven was great!!

When it comes to dining out, the service and atmosphere can make or break the overall experience. My mom, sister and I were visiting the area from the Detroit suburbs. Fortunately, at this particular establishment, the entertainment was remarkable. Lolas's voice was incredible; took our breath away! The service provided by server Steven was nothing short of amazing. Steven's warm and welcoming demeanor instantly put us at ease. His encyclopedic knowledge of the drink menu allowed him to expertly guide us through the myriad of options, offering thoughtful recommendations tailored to our individual tastes. But Steven's talents extend far beyond mere order-taking - he's a veritable showman, regaling tables with clever anecdotes and witty banter that keeps the mood light and lively all evening long. Equally impressive was his attentiveness, as he consistently checked in to ensure our needs were met, from keeping water glasses filled and also our drinks; offering more ice if needed. Thanks to Steven's infectious energy and consummate professionalism, our time spent here was an absolute delight, leaving us not just satisfied, but thoroughly entertained as well. In a world where good service is so often hard to come by, Steven is a true gem - a hospitality virtuoso who elevates the entire dining experience to the realm of the extraordinary. We will be flying in again soon just to visit this fine establishment.
