About Old Hickory Steakhouse - steak house in Aurora, Colorado

A menu featuring classic steakhouse dishes, sides, & cocktails in a modern, tavern-style setting.

Customer Review Summary

Incredible food and impeccable service, especially with Dena the dining room manager and pastry chef Amanda highlighting the experience. While the food is excellent, some reviews suggest the prices are too high for the experience, compared to true Michelin star meals. Solid a la carte options, with standout dishes like the dry aged steak and diverse cocktails, though the pricing and side separations may feel like a cash grab. The atmosphere is inviting, with attentive service and delicious dishes, including exceptional desserts from a professional pastry chef. Diners praised the ample portion sizes and flavorful entrees, although the restaurant is on the pricey side. Overall, guests recommend Old Hickory Steakhouse for its remarkable flavors, ambiance, and professional service, despite the elevated costs.

Incredible food, impeccable service. Dena the dining room manager helped us celebrate our anniversary and she did an incredible job. Pastry chef Amanda made sure our dessert was a highlight (Dessert was my favorite part); but the drinks and entrees did not disappoint either. Will definitely be back. Can't wait to see what else they have to offer in during other seasons!

Nice restaurant, but not a Michelin star restaurant which the price would suggest. I got a special 30 day aged steak and my wife got a fillet, both were great. We also got the mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts, which were both better than expected. We shared $168 bottle of wine normally priced at 90, I don’t think they have any wines by the glass. My issue isn’t the total price, which was around 415+ tip. My issue is that it was about a $250 meal. If this is the best place you’ve ever eaten at then you’re gonna be wowed, however if you’ve eaten true Michelin star incredible meals this is twice the price that it should be. Unfortunately, the way they separate the sides from the main course feels like a cash grab. Based on the value, I can’t really recommend this place. However, if you have mad stacks of cash, get in there, blow it, relax and enjoy yourself!

Excellent food, delightful service with very welcomed recommendations. Steak cooked perfectly, crab served split making it easy to enjoy. And great wine. But prices are very “resort” level and served a la cart, no sides or salads. Just your steak. Be ready to pay, but great food and service to enjoy.

Solid steakhouse with a well rounded menu. Ambiance and staff were on point and I think the only knock I might have on it is just finding it. There's a check in booth in the hotel but you have to then go down a floor and there's a little gravel path that branches off, a more direct route would have been preferred. Other than that the dry aged steak we got was fantastic, very flavorful with good sauce and salt options. They have some different cocktails than the other bars and they were very nice as well. If you're staying at the gaylord and really in the mood for steak or something a bit fancier this is worth checking out.

Astounding experience and remarkable flavors. Old Hickory has an amazing kitchen producing delicious combinations with a delightful wine list. The service was top notch ... never overwhelmed and never neglected ... perfect and professional. After dinner I was able to enjoy the outside terrace. What a beautiful restaurant.

Hands down, the best Creme Brulee I have ever had! I visited here for the first time during my stay at the resort, and I was definitely very happy I decided to eat here! FYI- the menu is seasonal and changes! So don't pay too much attention to all the pictures of the menu in the reviews! Just either visit the website or call to ask. And be prepared, this is not a cheap restaurant but very much worth it if you can make it work. The atmosphere was inviting and nice, the service was awesome (James took good care of us!), and the food was AMAZING! They have a great selection of wines, cocktails, and beers. I ordered the Diver Scallops as an entre, which comes with 5 scallops total. What a great tasting dish! All the flavors paired nicely and it was very light but filling! I also ordered the grilled asparagus as a side. My coworker ordered the salmon and the truffle loaded baked potato. The potato wasn't your usual loaded potato, but I can't remember the exact name from the menu. All I know is that it had truffle and edible gold flakes! Of course, you need to save room for desert because the deserts blew my mind! Let me start off by saying they have a professional pastry chef, and she knocked it out of the park! I highly recommend the Creme Brulee and the Cheesecake! I can honestly say this was the best Creme Brulee I have ever eaten! All the flavors were on point, and the plating was so beautiful that I didn't even want to eat it! Overall, this was a great experience, and I highly recommend eating here, especially if you're staying at the hotel! It is pricey, but worth it!

Wow, steakhouse is an understatement. The sizes of the cut of meats are insane. The sides are just as big and super fancy. This is not a cheap dinner place but one you won't mind spending the money. I like my meat rare and was may medium rare, but the taste and tender NY prime was amazing anyway.

I recently dined here with my family and was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant's mountain-themed ambiance created a cozy atmosphere. The service was exceptional, with attentive and friendly staff checking in on our table frequently. One tip: if you're paying for parking, make sure to validate your ticket at the restaurant. Our order included the salmon entree, a NY strip, and a bone-in NY strip. The meat's temperature was spot on, and both steaks were bursting with flavor and juiciness. We also indulged in the Mac and cheese and whipped Yukon potatoes, which were generously portioned and easily enough for three people to share. The wine selection was extensive. The prices are leaning towards the higher end for a steakhouse. Despite this, the quality made it worth every penny. Should I find myself in the area again, I wouldn't hesitate to return for another memorable meal.
