Cocktails and whisky selections are highlighted as excellent, with knowledgeable staff offering recommendations. Happy hour experiences and bar visits seem favorable, as guests enjoyed the atmosphere and drinks. Pricing is seen as high but commensurate with the quality of food and experience. We stopped by on a Friday night for a date night dinner (thanks to our preschool who did a date night session). I love the ambiance and decor. Slight nod to a mountain hunting lodge without going overboard. Service was just ok, maybe because our bill was not $200 since we did not order steaks and multiple cocktails. We paid $150 with 17% tip. I usually tip 20% but food and service was disappointing. For apps we got the eggplant meatballs, it was a little too dense and chewy, and did not have a ton of flavor. For entrees, my husband did like his braised short ribs while I got the scallops. The scallops were delicious but it sat on a bed of cheesy black rice. There was so much cheese, I had to cut it with a knife. I had 3 bites of it and couldn't eat more. Just too much cheese and did not go with scallops at all. Server did check in about our apps but never asked us about our meal. I would go back for a drink at the bar but not for another meal.

Steak & Whisky is a unicorn. For a South Bay restaurant, it provides an extraordinary experience: 1. The friendliness and attentiveness of the service staff -- form the greeter to the bartender to the wait staff -- made my time at the restaurant fly by -- my suggestion: sit at the bar, and have a great conversation with not only the staff but other patrons; 2. The drinks -- a variety of top shelf Bourbon -- made my party and me stay longer than expected (the reasoning: why go to another place when this bar has everything we need; there is also special lockers that I appreciate) -- - my suggestion ask Connor, Issac, Grant or Jack to set you up with "his choice," these guys are professionals ; and 3. We were presently surprised by the food -- we had a tomahawk, seafood tower and other apps; everything was to our liking -- my suggestion: order that happy hour burger (superb). Thanks for such a great time.

Very pleasant happy hour experience a few months ago. My husband and I sat at the bar, we each had a cocktail and split oysters and a flatbread. The drinks were delicious. The bartender wasn’t super engaging but I think he was getting set up at the beginning of his shift. Would come back next time we’re in town!

Had a great experience last night (11Jan2025). 6 of us for a Bday dinner. Server was appropriately attentive without being overbearing. All the food was very tasty. I had the Bone-in NY and was pleasantly surprised the bone wasn't gigantic so good amount of meat. Flavor was great and cooked perfectly. It is a bit pricey but quality is there. They have a very extensive whiskey list and a relatively small wine list but good options. Menu is ala carte and the sides are enough for 2 to share each. Small eaters could make it 3 (personal opinion). Prices are equivalent to a steakhouse and rightfully so. Almost forgot to mention the wedge salad, nice large chunks of bacon and definitely a good start.

Perfect sunset view with great food. With outdoor dining, the sloped street provides a stunning sunset view. We dined here last night with our daughter and her boyfriend. We had a great time while enjoying the food and the view. The service here was excellent with our waiter constantly checking on us to see if we need anything and timely taking our orders and bringing food out. With his recommendation, we had a perfect meal. Before talking about the main dishes, I have to mention that their house bread here is to die for. Crusty hot bread with honey butter is a perfect combination. You got to order that if you dine here. With the restaurant name after steak, we can’t have dinner here without trying their steak. The ribeye steak we ordered was perfectly cooked to medium. The flavor of the steak was fantastic. The meat was tender and flavorful. I loved it. The scallop dish was also heavenly. Butterly flavor created an amazing dish. This dish is not to be missed from you meal. It pairs perfectly with the steak. All the side dishes such as lobster macaroni and Brussels sprouts were very good. They went well with our main dishes. Although we didn’t order any cocktails or whisky, but from the extensive drink menu, we could tell the restaurant has very good selections of drinks. We ended up ordering a Malbec red wine to pair with our steak. It was good. Parking is a bit challenging on the weekend. Street parking with meters is limited. You can still find parking a couple of streets down close to the beach in a parking structure.

Everything on the menu was delicious. We stopped by for brunch last Saturday and had a wonderful time. The service was impeccable, we had champagne and ordered most of the menu (we were celebrating!) Oysters are always my favorite and I love them here. The lobster was cooked to perfection, scallops might have been my favorite thing we ate. It was a special occasion and I can’t wait to have another excuse to go back!

I’ve lived in the South Bay for all my life it is never tried steak n whiskey. Steaks are my fave so I’m very particular. I always order my steak medium rare because I can tell if is fresh or frozen due to the blood content. I ordered the pichana medium rare and this is what I got. It was cooked medium so I sent it back. The second pichana was full of cartilage which is not common with rump steak. We also ordered lobster Mac which they forgot about and brought out after my second pichana order. Lobster Mac was awful so we left it, but they still charged us full Pop for the lobster Mac. I will not go back. It’s supposed to be a stark restaurant but they failed R every attempt. I have two stars because my friend ordered a burger and she was happy with it but to me it looked like a slider instead of a full burger.
