About JD's Mission Steakhouse - steak house in Riverside, California

Customer Review Summary

JD's Mission Steakhouse offers a memorable dining experience with excellent food and attentive service. Patrons rave about the flavorful lamb steak, salmon, and various sides, like the spinach salad and house-made bread. The ambiance is cozy and festive, featuring friendly staff, with some unique touches like a personal visit from the chef. While many reviews highlight the great food, some diners mention issues with steak portion sizes and doneness accuracy. Overall, it's suggested to focus on the food rather than the exterior, as the quality is often likened to that of fancy establishments. Service is a strong point, though it can be inconsistent, with occasional amateurishness noted. Despite minor complaints, guests express eagerness to return and try more menu items.

Really enjoyed my first experience at this steakhouse. It will not be my last time. We ordered the sampler, salmon and lamb steak. Everything was cooked to our satisfaction. The services was very attentive and jenny was so perfect. She made sure our experience was great. The lamb steak was very favorable. My wife loved the salmon. No room for desert. When you come, don't be fooled by the outside. The restaurant is very friendly and affordable. Thank you everyone.the for

It's a 5-star meal in a 3-star storefront. JD's serves an excellent steak and high quality sides, deliciously prepared. The service is friendly, if amateurish, and the furnishings and decor are rough. So go for the great food (I understand they also put in an excellent Sunday brunch) but don't expect it to be fancy.

Where do I start??!! My goodness…this place was next level in all categories. We came in on Saturday, and it was so good, we decided to come back this evening. This place is a must-try! Notable food items Spinach/baby greens salad with house-made vinaigrette, fresh fruit and chopped walnuts (bleu cheese)The mixture of flavors that made me a salad lover forever :) Cocktail sauce for the shrimp cocktail - best I’ve ever had House-made bread with a buttery, flaky exterior, and a soft center Filet mignon covered in a one-of-a-kind sauce - a true masterpiece Skirt steak (this one surprised me) very tender and flavorful! Chicken Alfredo - chicken breast was seasoned well, and tender. The Alfredo sauce danced in garlic and other delightful flavors Apple Streusel pie - apple pie with crumbles, topped with a generous helping of vanilla ice cream. Drizzled with a chocolate or Carmel sauce and fresh fruit. A beautiful finish! Ambiance Walking in, appropriate for the holiday was a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and cozy, yet also classy decor, also playing fun, upbeat Christmas music. Service These are some of the best people you will meet. They all greet you with warm smiles, are attentive, detailed and what I especially enjoyed was when the chef came out and personally checked on us.

Visited JD's Mission Steakhouse at 4957 Felspar St, Jurupa Valley, CA, for dinner tonight and had a mixed experience. The service started strong with a friendly waiter who was quite attentive, offering a menu promptly after a brief wait. I ordered the iceberg wedge with bacon, red onions, tomatoes, and blue cheese, which was delightful, followed by a 16oz Ribeye that promised 29 days of dry aging. The wedge salad was a refreshing start, but the steak, while well-cooked, didn't live up to expectations. The portion appeared smaller than advertised, resembling a 12oz rather than the 16oz listed, which was disappointing given the $50.99 price tag. Although the salad hit the mark, the main dish and a glass of red wine (chosen after a less than pleasant soda water) didn't quite justify the cost. Overall, the dining experience was just okay—nothing memorable—and unfortunately, it doesn’t inspire a return visit.

Wanted to grab a quick bite to eat and decided to take a chance on a local steakhouse and I'm glad we did! We were greeted with a smile and we were able to sit wherever we wanted and were presented menus. Our server promptly returned to obtain our order. After bringing our drinks our server provided us with warm rolls along with butter. I appreciated the butter temperature which allowed me to spread it without tearing up the roll. I really enjoyed it! After agreeing not to order appetizers we decided to just try entrées. From the prime dried aged cuts, I ordered the 12 oz ribeye with sides being a fully loaded potato and asparagus. My husband ordered a half rack of baby back ribs with his sides being garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. After a reasonable amount of time our food was presented. I requested a medium cooked steak and unfortunately it was more on the rare side of doneness. I decided not to return it because I was so hungry. My steak was very tender and I thoroughly enjoyed the flavor profile. I appreciate how they presented the "fully loaded" items for my baked potato and my asparagus was properly cooked. My husband ate his ribs with a fork because the meat fell right off the bone when he attempted to pick up a rib. He said that the barbecue sauce was on the tangy side which he enjoyed. Overall, we were pleased with our food and experience. The only two complaints I have would be having to order Pepsi because they do not offer Coke and the temperature of my steak. I specifically asked the server if I wanted a light pink in the middle of my steak how should I order and he said medium. Next time I'll order medium well and it should be perfect. Looking forward to the next time we go and try their appetizers, soups, salads and other entrées.

Sunday 3/17/24 Sunday Brunch at JD's Mission Steakhouse in Jurupa Valley with my cousin. Trying out their AYCE tomahawk steak. This tomahawk steak, other foods, and omelet were very tasty. Oscar Jr., service staff, was attentive, friendly, and hard working to refill our drinks and clear our empty plates. I even have a chance to meet the restaurant’s owners, Oscar & David. They both were friendly and hospitable. They work at the restaurant as the chef and food server, respectively; they also walked to every tables to ensure customers were enjoying their foods. They both made me felt welcome even though it was my first time going to this restaurant. Thank you Oscar & David! The restaurant played great music (80s genre) and it has good decorations. I feel happy to be there; it is a blessing to have this experience. I recommend trying this restaurant. David Young Restaurant Enthusiast
