This place is a whole vibe. Sort of old school, classic, with a really good chef. The owner hand makes the cheesecake, and it's drizzled with this astounding red wine sauce. Everything we had was excellent. The bartender also made nice, strong drinks that don't skimp on liquor. It's definitely worth it. Bonus: they keep the Christmas decorations up really late for fun, which is hella unique and adds to their charm. Supposedly, this place was once a brothel.

We went for lunch. We were seated right away. It was a busy lunch hour. There is street parking out front with meters. This is a staple restaurant in Oakland Jack London Square. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. My friend who came with me has been eating there for over 20 years but has not been there in about 15 years. And the decor is a must see. It is very lovely and interesting! As far as the food and service, it was excellent!! I had the Cobb salad and all the ingredients were very fresh. My friend had the crabcakes and she loved them. She also had a side Caesar salad, which was literally excellent. We each had the best iced tea since neither one of us drink alcohol. My friend was so pleasantly surprised at how good the food still was after all these years! You know how sometimes you go to a restaurant that’s been open forever and the food kind of goes downhill. Well this was not the case with the Fat Lady whatsoever! Five stars for lunch! We are local to the East Bay so we are looking forward to going back soon.

I was in town recently and heard great things about your restaurant from locals. I had to try it out, and I was blown away! I ordered the filet mignon and lobster, and we also shared the calamari appetizer. Everything was absolutely delicious!

Okay, get ready to drool! I'm super picky about giving out 5 stars, so when I tell you this place earned it, you know it's good. So good, in fact, I went twice in the same day! This spot used to be my absolute go-to back in the day, but life happened and it's been a while. Meeting a client for lunch recently brought me back, and it was like no time had passed at all! The atmosphere is still buzzing with this cool, eclectic energy. I dove into the Grecian Lamb – four seriously meaty chops, grilled to perfection, and served with some delicious seasonal veggies. The calamari was a generous portion and fried just right – light, crispy, and definitely not greasy. And of course, I had to treat myself to a martini – so smooth! Consider me officially back in the regular rotation. Girls' cocktail hour, here I come!

Delightful environment and atmosphere. A waiter took my order almost immediately. Very pleased in this regard. Their food is fine. Nothing too special. I ordered the burger and crab cakes.. Their drinks are very good.

First time here, the drinks were nice and strong. The steak was so tender and that balsamic sauce with the mushrooms had me trying to get every last bit of it.

The fat lady’s been around for 53 years and still serving up some great food. With it all is just the best table service. A great selection for cocktails from the bar. I had a spicy, bloody Mary, and my friend had an espresso martini , that was super. And they have family recipes for their cheesecake and the Pate. I was served up a delicious Warm Spinach Salad that was topped off with a poached egg that was great. My friends had their specially prepared lamb chops that are hard to beat. We had a couple servings of their delicious French onion soup. Another friend had a special this week of a pasta dish with spiral pasta, corn, cherry tomatoes, and olives, and garlic. Also ordered was a great Fat Lady Burger as well as an order of corn chowder that was delish. It’s definitely worth checking out.

Amazing service. Great atmosphere. Some of the worst risotto I have ever had. Watery. No texture. Over 40 dollars for 3 tiny scallops and runny risotto. The Calamari was spectacular. I will say that.
