My husband and I visited for the Happy Hour and, unfortunately, there was not a single thing on the menu without garlic and onions, which he's allergic to. We're used to having limited options for him, but we've never been to a restaurant where nothing, not even the sushi, is edible for him. That lessened the experience as we'd been really excited about eating here. However, our waitress was AMAZING. She was knowledgeable about ingredients, checked everything that, honestly, should have been free of onions and garlic and discovered he couldn't order any it. She was so diligent. In the end, my husband ordered a (tiny bowl of) bland mac 'n cheese which the cook "custom made" for $11. 🙄 And some fries. That was a bust. My husband insisted I order from the menu because he was taking me for a date and didn't want me to be disappointed. My food was good. And extra points for presentation. The real stars here are the cocktails (the bartender is talented!) and the gorgeous restaurant. The views are stunning. I wish I could give 3.5⭐.

Genuinely really disappointed by this experience and had to think about it before reviewing. Went a few weeks ago on Dec. 20, so near the holidays and expected it to be busy. No worries! But the service was genuinely so bad. Maybe our server was new/learning the ropes or just very overwhelmed but they tried to give us the wrong appetizers like 5 times over the span of an HOUR. We did not receive ANY food for an hour after arriving at our reservation time, which seems excessive. Entrees arrived way later and were also consistently wrong. Water was refilled maybe once the whole time we were there. Food itself was okay. The fish was good, crab was good, lobster bisque and side veggies were okay. Actually, the fish was REALLY GOOD but I was also just REALLY HUNGRY so I feel like that's not enough to warrant a higher review :( The view is beautiful. The atmosphere is very nice, upscale. But I was deeply disappointed by the overall experience :(

Skates On The Bay offers a memorable dining experience with stunning views, especially towards the southeast side of the restaurant where you can admire the city lights shimmering at night. The seafood selection is fantastic, with a wide variety of mouth-watering options, though it does lean on the pricier side. The Lobster Bisque is a standout – rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. you might also enjoy an all in one Skate Ocean Tower with always fresh, delicious oysters. The restaurant exudes a bit of an old-school charm, but during the colder months, sitting by the French windows can feel a little drafty. That said, the attentive service and friendly waitstaff help make up for any discomfort. Overall, a great spot for an evening of great food and views!

I have visited this restaurant several times, and the quality of the food remains consistently excellent. I have tried a variety of dishes, including appetizers and desserts, all of which are fresh and flavorful. I always enjoy my meals while taking in the beautiful sunsets. The staff is professional, attentive, and welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience.

January 2025: Probably has been 20 years since I have eaten here. I was very excited to see how the restaurant has adapted throughout the years. The view of the Bay is spectacular from the dining room. I ordered the poki salad bowl with yellowtail. The vinaigrette that came with on the salad was a bit overwhelming. My wife ordered the soup and noodles. Both were tasty. Service was very friendly and attentive. Overall, was very happy with my lunch. Glad Skates has continued to serve excellent food.

We were able to get a reservation 10 minutes before 11:45am on a Sunday, which was surprising. Serving took about 30 minutes for the appetizer, and 1 hour for the main dishes, which was expected due to brunch rush. The food itself, while expensive and certainly not served in large portion sizes, was delicious; I ordered linguine with salmon, my wife ordered the rosemary salmon, and my son ordered the fiery ahi tuna-all of which were great. I was satisfied with the service and atmosphere. A great restaurant.

It is one of my favorite restaurants. I have been there many times. But on Oct. 20 I made a reservation for 3 and asked for a window seat. There was an empty table next to another one and the receptionist, a Latina lady, told me that she could not reserve that table for me because it was for more people. 15 minutes later, 3 white people arrived and they separated the tables for them and sat them there. We were discriminated against for that action. The waiter was very kind. He gave us the best service. This month I hope to celebrate a birthday again. I would not like to be served by the same receptionist but the waiter would. The food was also delicious.

We love the view during the day, as well as the sunset. The restaurant is basically over the water with view of the bridges on a clear day. Love their mushroom appetizer. Bread is always fresh and warm. It’s always good to make reservations first
