Customer Review Summary
Oakland Grill, located in Jack London Square, has a warm, family-friendly atmosphere with quick and polite service. Many reviewers praised dishes like the crab Benedict and crab omelet, highlighting their delicious flavors. There's also a happy hour offering 50% off all items from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. However, some guests expressed disappointment with particular items, including the crab cake Benedict, which was criticized for its mushy texture and imitation crab. While most found the service attentive and the food quick to arrive, there were complaints about the restaurant's cold interior and some bland dishes, particularly the two egg breakfast with overcooked salmon. Despite mixed reviews on food quality, the diner ambiance and staff kindness received high marks, making it a spot worth considering. Overall, the restaurant has potential with some menu improvements, and many recommend it for its hearty portions and cozy environment.

Quaintly located in Downtown Oakland's Jack London square this restaurant grille has an old world family feel. Great family spot with a bar sitting option, staff was quick and polite . I had the crab Benedict plate with belgian waffle. Absolute must try!!!

Great service and location, but I was very disappointed in their crab cake Benedict which seemed like a fan favorite. The crab is fake (which I wasn’t aware of) but also the majority of the patty was breading, not even the imitation crab, and very very mushy. Reminded me of an extra mushy fish nugget from the frozen section. I tried my friends’ real crab omelette and that was delicious. The house potato’s are great as well. May give this place another chance but definitely not the crab cake.

Really really yummy food. Great, attentive service. staff is really nice and the food comes out really quick. Really good with coffee refills , staff checked on us a bunch. Also lots of indoor seating and fair prices for brunch

It's no insulation so it's really cold inside. We did receive large portions but as one previous post wrote, the quality doesn't equal the price. Some highlights are: the crab omelet does have a lot of crab and I really enjoyed the pancakes.

I have avoided the Oakland Grill for many years because my experience was underwhelming. I decided to stop in and give them a try while I was in the area. It was early in the morning so the service was warm and efficient, it was clean and they were doing their best to keep it warm. The food however was disappointing. I ordered a two egg breakfast with salmon and potatoes. The salmon was not only bland but very dry from being overcooked. The potatoes were also bland with no flavor. I don't salt my food but that was the only way it was tolerable. I'm also not one to not pay for the food and services I received but honestly I wouldn't have paid for this the food was so bad. This is an old establishment and could really be a place to go if they just invest in a better menu

The most intense omelette ever is the Colorado. It is chock full of chopped up bacon, filled with a least half of an avocado all sliced up (not a dark spot) and topped with a big pile of fresh salsa. Also loved was the Crab Cake Benedict, sweet fresh real crab (only $4 more than a similar dish with half fake and half real crab), with a poached egg on a muffin. It may be the most expensive thing on the breakfast menu at $22 but worth it.

Incredible diner located in the heart of Jack London. All the food is made with love. I’ve had many meals here and the food has yet to disappoint. Wonderful, kind staff. Also - they are now open for dinner every day of the week! A must if you’re in the area
