About NIDO's BackYard - steak house in Oakland, California
Upbeat, colorful patio hangout offering modern Mexican bites, margaritas, beer & agave.
Customer Review Summary
NIDO's BackYard offers a fun and lively atmosphere, though it can be a bit loud. The food, including tacos, chips, and guacamole, is generally good but can be hit or miss in terms of portion size and flavor. Service tends to be slow during busy times, and the venue operates more like a bar with food rather than a full-service restaurant. The decor is colorful and inviting, enhancing the overall vibe, especially with a lovely outdoor patio space. The staff is friendly and accommodating, contributing to positive experiences for events such as wedding receptions. Drinks, particularly cocktails, receive praise, though not all are deemed extraordinary. Secure parking is available but can be challenging to access when staff isn’t present. Overall, it’s a good spot to try, especially for social gatherings and casual dining.

A fun atmosphere if a little loud. The food is fine. We had tacos which were better than ordinary. The chips and guacamole were very good but the serving was small. It seemed understaffed with an unnecessarily long wait for a table and slow food delivery. We are not drinkers so we cannot vouch for the quality of the cocktails. As an establishment it is more of a bar with food than a restaurant with alcohol. The secure parking is very good and very convenient.

Here’s a review in English based on your description: “The Nido is a place full of Mexican folkloric charm. The food is good, but it’s not quite delicious — it leaves you wanting something extra to say, ‘Wow!’ The service is good, though not remarkable. The ambiance is lovely, with a strong Mexican-style atmosphere. The drinks are tasty, especially the cocktails made with mezcal and tequila that aren’t commercial brands, but while they’re good, they’re not extraordinary.”

The decor was very nice and gave good vibes. My friend was disappointed there were only tvs at the bar lol. The drinks were good and the caldo ranchero has me ready to go back. The chips and guacamole was lack luster but the papas pasadas was yummy.

We had our wedding reception here in the event area on 9/21/24, and our experience was great! Everyone said it was the best wedding they have been to. I love that they have a private bar in the event area and allowed us to bring our own DJ. Everyone was so happy with the service, the food, the cocktails, the vibe, and our favorite bartender Khalid!

Logan and Erin served us all day. We had lunch with Logan as our server and moved to the bar area for happy hour with Erin. Very positive staff all around we love the atmosphere. Highly recommend the photo booth! Try the hot chocolate for sure, my favorite is the Michelada Roja.

Food was good, friendly staff Lots of running space for kids Parking is a bit challenging - use the secured lot but it is open only when staff is present Give it a try

Wandered in on a Wednesday and it was popping! Grabbed a seat at the bar and a tres Rojas and some chips and quac, which complimented each other nicely. The service was surprisingly fast considering it looked like there were 70 people in there when I rolled up.

WOW! What treat! Had an amazing dinner with friends on Monday night! The decor is colorful and inviting and the outdoor patio space is huge and spacious for large groups. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The food was tasty and flavorful.
