Customer Review Summary

Horatio's offers a beautiful atmosphere with breathtaking bay views, making it great for special occasions. The food quality is inconsistent; while some dishes like the clam chowder and seafood pesto pasta receive praise, others, such as the shrimp and crab pasta, have been criticized for poor flavor and quality. Service experiences vary widely, with some guests noting attentive staff while others report significant delays and miscommunication. I haven’t been here in years. We came for a family Christmas Eve dinner. The inside of this place is just gorgeous and the views of the bay are breathtaking. The atmosphere here is just insane and a more fine dining experience. The Christmas dinner menu is limited you can pick a soup or salad then one entrée and 1 dessert for $60-$65 a person. They start you off with fresh bread with garlic butter onto which was very buttery and fresh. I piked the lobster bisque and my wife got the clam chowder both had good chunks of seafood in it and was very tasty some of the best soups I’ve had. Then I got those prime rib which was very good not as good as the house of prime rib but their horseradish was very strong and I loved it. Then for Dessert we had key lime pie and the cheesecake. Both were amazing, I loved the cheesecake more it had so much flavor for just a plain cheesecake. Overall a wonderful experience I even love those cocktails I got a smoky bourbon drink that they came out to our table and light it on fire and left a smoke cloud on your drink. It was so cool. I’ll most definitely have to come back and try their main menu.

Had my birthday dinner here we had a reservation where sat down in about 5 to 10 minutes after we arrived the service can pretty quickly we ordered calamari I ordered a class of wine the calamari came out quickly I had to ask a second time for my wine after 30 minutes 3 other table had been sat about 15 to 20 minutes after us the service came and brought out beverages we asked if we could order he said he'd be back the then he went to the other tables and ordered there dinner and had not come back to our finally we thought we were going to ordered but he just brought more beverages an hour went by the other tables received there dinner then we were able to ordered he seam overwhelmed and frustrated my mother tried to cheer him up but that lasted all of 5 min. In about another 30 min we finally got our dinner i had the ribeye steak my brother in law had shrimp my steak was edible but really had not flavor tasted as if it was cooked in water my brother in law got sick to his stomach just before he arrived him. Before that, there was my birthday cake he brought out with the candles . He left there, walked away, not an extra plate, no silverware, and no knife to cut it with. i wound up using a butter, know. To round it all up, it was a horrible experience, and I will not go back again. I have been here before, which is why I wanted to eat here it was great then.

In a nutshell: food meh, service decent, atmosphere good. Two of us had the shrimp and crab pasta. The shrimp was perfectly cooked. The lump and rock crab was from a can and looked like cat food. Didn’t taste good either. Pasta was okay, just flavorless. Garlic bread was probably the best thing we ate. I also had a watermelon salad. It had lavender cornmeal croutons that I picked out after eating a couple. Unpleasant taste that conflicted with watermelon. They could have left the arugula off too as it added nothing but color to the salad and the flavor didn’t blend. Our companion had the seafood Louie, which she really liked. The server was very nice and personable. I would have liked more check backs on the food and drinks but otherwise okay. Nice location on the San Leandro marina. Big parking lot. Plenty of seating. Nice view. Noise level was good.

I recently attended a going away party for a dear friend and Horatio's was my friend's restaurant of choice. If you enjoy seafood- then this is the place for you. Conveniently located in the San Leandro Marina, there is lots of parking all around the restaurant. Walking in I see the host desk and lots of indoor seating inside. There's seating at the bar, inside the restaurant and in the back of the place for larger parties. There's plenty of windows all around so no matter where you sit, you've got a great view of the Marina. After dining, there are walking trails if you want to take a stroll around the Marina and the interior decor gives nautical vibes. They boast an extensive menu depending on the time/day that you come (including lunch, brunch, dinner, cocktail and happy hour). Our party of 15 showed up on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30. Our servers, McGyver (like the TV show) and Glenna were so personable, attentive and full of great menu suggestions. Pricing for lunch runs about $10-$35 which is about normal and in my opinion a good deal considering the quality of the food and portion sizes. Our servers suggested the Lunch Box special -for $25 you can order two items from (2) menus of an appetizer, soup, salad, sandwich or two entrees. I decided to go for the clam chowder and the seafood pesto pasta which was highly recommended. Here's my breakdown: STARTERS: We were served warm garlic bread immediately and it was right on time. Usually, I try not to fill up on the bread but I couldn't resist.... a nice slather of garlicky butter rested on top of the crust and the bread was nice, warm and soft- came with a plate of oils and herbs. YUM! ENTREES: I am a huge fan of clam chowder and this didn't disappoint. I got the cup and it was full of flavor and clams like I enjoy- the potatoes were diced pretty small but I really liked it overall. I'm also not a big pasta girl but the seafood pesto pasta was highly recommended by both servers so I trusted their expertise and they were right. The portion was so big I had to take 1/2 of it to go- it was filled with lots of salmon, asparagus, artichokes, carrots and fettucine noodles in a thick creamy sauce. Very flavorful! My friend orders the same thing each time she comes- it was an herb crusted chicken dish with creamy mashed potatoes and spinach. Going around the table, everyone mentioned how much they enjoyed their dishes. This is a great location for groups, a first date or a happy hour meet up with friends. CHECK THEM OUT!

The restaurant is very cozy, dark wood interior, must be beautiful during the day to enjoy the ocean view on a wide glass window. We went during holiday, so its perfect for that holiday cozy feel. The food is perfect, and service is excellent. A little pricey but worth it for special occasion. Such a happy treat for our whole family to enjoy our Xmas eve gift exchange together. Definitely a must try 👍♥️

The food, atmosphere, and drinks were very good. The service was very slow, though there were very few people during the 1:00 PM time frame in which we arrived. Maybe it was an off day. I would still recommend 👌

One of my favorite restaurants in the East Bay. Lots of great memories at this restaurant. This time I took my youngest daughter & her best friend to celebrate my daughter's Beauty School graduation. Perfect weather for sitting outside on their patio & the food was excellent, as always. Have never had a bad meal there.

Lovely restaurant. I have been there three times and every time my experience was great. And the view adds a lot to the ambience.
