About Delage - steak house in Oakland, California
Buzzy Japanese bistro with upscale omakase-style sushi & drinks in a cozy, minimalist space.
Customer Review Summary
Delage offers a unique dining experience with an 8-course omakase menu featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients. The atmosphere is intimate, with only 10 seats, providing personalized and attentive service from a single chef and server. Diners rave about the creative flavor combinations, beautiful plating, and the overall deliciousness of each dish, particularly the nigiri and dessert. Reservations are required due to the limited seating, and the price is considered worthwhile for the quality of the meal. While the restaurant’s small size adds charm, guests have noted limited parking and a somewhat inconvenient bathroom location. Overall, it is highly recommended for special occasions and those seeking a unique culinary experience.

Ben
Just had dinner at Delage. It was such a delicious meal with wonderful service and very knowledgeable chefs preparing the sushi right in front of us. All of the flavor combinations were creative and well-balanced, and the food was presented very well with the artistic bowls and plates. Would definitely recommend this place for a fancy night out!

This place is a must go. One thing I look for in places like this is simple but unique flavors. The chefs here absolutely knocked it out of the park with every dish. The flavor combinations were incredible, the textures were spot on, and the plating was beautiful. The staff was really kind and helpful and the overall atmosphere was really laid back. Can't wait to come back.

8 course omakase experience - they get their fish fresh daily and incorporate seasonal ingredients into the menu. The flavors were simple yet complex and each course had it's own surprising element. Each dish is prepared was thoughtful in complimenting flavor and texture! The nigiri was exceptional - (if eaten in the correct order) the buildup of complexity and umami was a delight to experience. They were also accommodating for our dietary restrictions. Highly recommend this place!

Atypical. Tiny restaurant (10 seats, 6 at the counter, one table for 4) with a unique 7-course menu changing each week. Food is very delicate, essentially around fish (only one small piece with meat during the whole meal). I was maybe expecting something more creative, more different across the courses, but was still very enjoyable. Service was very efficient, as all guests were mostly served at the same time.

Every thing was so delicious. I love how creative the chef was to put together beautiful dishes with fresh ingredients. I love all the different flavors combinations, read the description on the menu. Not overpowering but go so well with all the ingredients. I love miso cream sauce with the black cod. I love the dessert at the end. Just perfect way to finish off the meal, not too sweet.

Great experience celebrating a birthday. Intimate seating. Not overly crowed but perfectly small space. Flavors were very unique and enjoyable. There was one chef and one server which was surprisingly enough. Both were warm and friendly. Knowledgeable clearly explained each dish that came out. Items were perfectly spaced apart allowing you to enjoy each item. Bathrooms are located across a courtyard which was a bit off-putting. Reservations must be made. Pricing is per person and for me was worth it.

I was very pleasantly surprised by how beautiful each dish was. And of course tasted very delicious!! There is only one main chef and one server but it is a tiny restaurant with only a handful of seats. There are six seats at the bar and a table that could seat four. So make sure to make a reservation! There is a different set course menu everyday. I am attaching a photo of the menu but it had a pleasant appetizer, salad, 2 pc sushi, 4 pc nigiri, palate cleanser (ours was a super yummy plum/yuzu drink), fish katsu, chirashi, 4 pc nigiri again, soup, and dessert! It was very worth the price ($125 per person plus tax plus tip came out to be $326 for two of us). It was yummy but SO PRETTY!!! Each dish was such an art Would definitely go back many many times. (FYI - there is only limited street parking)
