About Forbes Mill Steakhouse - steak house in Hayward, California
Customer Review Summary
The atmosphere and service at Forbes Mill Steakhouse are generally praised, though some find the interior too dark and reminiscent of a Marriott hotel. Past experiences have been exceptional, with previous guests noting flavorful food and great memories, but recent visits have led to disappointment, particularly concerning the flavor and quality of the food. Several dishes, including rice and mac & cheese, have been criticized for being bland or poorly prepared, although some items like the lobster and oysters have received positive feedback. Customers appreciate the attentive staff and the elegant environment, but the high prices have sparked debates on whether the experience was worth it. Overall, guests have mixed feelings; some enjoy their meals and find the experience memorable, while others feel let down compared to their earlier visits.

Atmosphere is fine as well as service. Typically steak is cooked as ordered however when I order a medium rare and it’s cold and raw on the inside the rating goes down from a 5 star to a 4. Always a nice crowd in restaurant but the interior is very dark and looks similar to a Marriott hotel to be honest. It’s the nicest steak house in the area IMO.

The word that comes to mind is disappointed... I remember back in 2019.We went for my mom's 60th birthday. I remember the food was phenomenal. It melted in your mouth with flavor it was so good.I couldn't stop thinking about it. After my husband's deployment in 2020, I went back to forbes mills. It was still so delicious even though it's a more pricey place. It was well worth it. Now fast forward December 27, 2024. We now live in washington, and we're driving down to california to visit family for the holidays. It was my husband's birthday, and I knew exactly the spot to go forbes mills for an amazing dinner. They even print his name on menu which is so awesome. The atmosphere is nice it gets loud but its still nice. The servers were really good a nice. Something has definitely changed in the last four years. For the price ford mills charges you, the food was absolutely below par. It was flavorless, the rice was crunchy. They tried to give us a new thing of rice, and that still was gross, it lacked the texture and flavor of good white rice. They tired to bring out potato and cheese replacement, and that also lacked flavor it tastes gross and flavorless. The meat was cooked pretty good. We had medium rare, but it also lacked any type of flavor tho. I will say the lobster was cooked perfectly, It was delicious. The clam chowder also lacked flavor it was okay. The bowl of mushrooms was ok. The oysters were absolutely delicious. The dessert was good. My drink was good. For a $300 meal it was not worth it at all this time. I was sadly disappointed, it fell short in so many ways. It is not a meal. I will remember being so delicious. It will be a meal that will forever be disappointed in.

Great Place with some great food! I was only in for a quick meal at the bar which consisted of a wedge salad and Parmesan wedges but both of those items were delicious! Crispy lettuce smothered with bacon, cherry tomatoes, red onions and blue cheese! Very tasty! The garlic Parmesan wedges were also very tasty however they were heavy on the garlic which if I ordered them again, I would ask for light garlic. I love garlic but these were a bit heavy on it. Further, the wedges was basically just a quartered potato. Definitely worth a taste!! Lastly, the bar tender was super nice, helpful, and had amazing customer service!

Really good steakhouse. I got the ribeye which was cooked to perfection. The only thing that I wish was better were the crab cakes. They weren’t feeling and wished they were bigger filled with lots of crap meat.

Very good environment, elegant and comfortable, the ingredients are great, the steak is fried very well. There is enough parking space.

I expected more "wow" from this place when reading the reviews. The atmosphere is very nice, clean, and the staff is very friendly. To start, we had the sweet chili prawns. It was very good. To share, we got the mac & cheese and sautéed mushrooms. The mac & cheese was a disappointment. It was so plain and honestly pasta roni would have been better than that. Sautéed mushrooms were standard. On to the entrees, it was good but not as mouth watering as I've had at other steak houses. Overall, I wasn't nearly as impressed as the reviews made it out to be.

Place was incredible, all the food was fantastic, wait staff were very friendly and accommodating. Very expensive but worth the price.

Wow, my brothers took me here for my 40th birthday dinner, and from the time the host greeted us until the time we sat down all the way to desert. This was a magical experience. The staff is exceptional and friendly. I love the tablet that you would order wine from, which allows you to sort by the vintage and region. I picked the Alpha Omega to start us off with Brochetta fresh oysters from Washington, which were amazing! For dinner, I had the Cowboy Cut Ribeye and mashed potatoes, gravy, and fresh Brussel sprouts. They brought me the Chocolate Torte with a happy birthday cinnamon stencil. We had an amazing night full of remembrance and nostalgia. It made Ruth's Chris and Flemmings seem like a fast food chain. If you've never been to Forbes Mill. The service is impeccable, the food savory and delectable, and the most serene atmosphere. Thank you for staying open late for us. I will be back!
