About Steak & Anchor Restaurant & Lounge - steak house in Fresno, California

Customer Review Summary

The bartender received high praise for creating a delicious Canadian Apple drink. The Cajun Chicken Pasta was also greatly enjoyed, and the reviewer looks forward to finishing their meal. The overall recommendation is strong, especially for hotel guests, due to a focused, quality menu. A medium cooked New York Steak with an IPA was described as delicious, with prompt service in a quiet environment. Some items, like the fish tacos and margaritas, were perceived as average, and the limited menu frustrated one reviewer. Quality service was highlighted, but there were complaints about the lack of menu options and missing items like mashed potatoes. One couple had an excellent dining experience with buffalo wings, ribeye steaks, and flavorful sides, making them eager to return. However, another reviewer reported a significant wait and poor steak quality, leading to a disappointing experience. Service quality varied, with some reviewers expressing appreciation for fast, friendly service, while others faced issues due to a computer crash. Overall, the restaurant offers a mixed experience with standout dishes and service alongside complaints about inconsistency and limited menu choices.

The bartender tonight (9 Nov 2024), I'm sorry I forgot your name. It was awesome! They were able to make me a drink that I had no idea how to make - Canadian Apple- and it was delicious! Also, hats off to the cook! I got the Cajon Chicken Pasta and it was delicious! Could not finish it in one go, but I am looking forward to finishing it! 😀 I do recommend, especially if you're staying at the hotel to stop in! 💜

Hotel owners would probably agree if you have good enough restaraunt people staying at other hotels will come eat at your restaraunt. This holds true. A limited menu selection where they are good and dialed at the things they serve. I had a medium well cooked New York Steak and an IPA. It was delicious and the service was prompt. It was super quiet and low key which is what I'm looking for and it's in an ideal location for all of the Fresno Airport Hotels. I would eat there again, next time I'm flying out of Fresno.

The fish tacos were okay. They weren't spectacular. The margarita was okay, not good. The atmosphere is what you would expect in a hotel bar. The service was good but not great. I was surprised by the lack of options on the menu. No appetizers, no salad with your meal, only garlic mashed potatoes with a ribeye and vegetables. The real kicker, they were out of mashed potatoes. Fries or sweet potato fries were the only options, but it was the only way to get an option. I understand having a small menu, but this is insane. We didn't order the steak (my man owed me a steak dinner). we split the fish tacos and had margaritas. We left to find a better place to spend our night in Fresno.

A great place for a date I gave 5 stars because everything was perfect on this visit. There are things that I could pick on, but why when everything was just so on point. We walked in and we both felt transported to a visit worthy of mentioning that feeling of entering a nice Vegas casino lobby that had a lived in feeling and a touch of luxury. The bar and restaurant on the left walking in you're met with a divide. We did have to sort of guess to seat ourselves, they seemed minimally staffed. On the left the bar dining and bar, and on the right the more formal dining area. The bar had half a dozen or more people and TV's with some booths and the bar seating as well. We wanted quaint so we went right. The waitress was friendly and attentive. There were two other couples and it was quiet! The seating was comfortable with armchair padded seats and cloth table linen. Lighting was perfect if not just a touch bright enough to feel on display for all to see. The sad news is just that there was no "anchor" on the menu. A remnant of the pandemic. This was not my first time here but I don't recall this perfect feeling the way it had tonight. Some crab legs on the side or as a starter would have been unbelievable. I asked the waitress and she mentioned the return of the seafood is in the planning. Fingers crossed for that! We decided on a starter of buffalo wings and they were amazing! Crunchy, a good spicy vinegary sauce and a side of carrots and ranch dressing for cooling down with. Served piping hot. We both ordered the ribeye, we both wanted to take some home :) The plate landed piping hot with steam rising from the all the food! The potatoes tasted like actual potato, so much that it stands out. Aren't we all so used to done-up potatoes with butter or herbs and whatnot? This flavor with the beef was a refreshing departure from what you're used to getting. The vegetables were buttery and had slices of celery which is another component that is not very typical and I found refreshing. We both ordered medium rare and our waitress gave us the heads up that chef liked to go on the cooler side of medium rare. Fine by us, and they were so juicy and perfect! No frills here either, beef on grill no flash ingredients on them. The two cuts of steak were perfectly beefy flavored and tender enough for a fork to cut. I would have liked cloth napkins but I get it these days with the costs of everything being so insane. The meal was so good you really don't even think about what it cost. That said, with a ten dollar tip it came out to eighty five dollars. Worth every penny! Nearly every other steakhouse I walk away with significantly lighter pockets and a feeling as though I could have just done that better at home. On this visit it was so good I didn't get that feeling in the slightest. Maybe I could have done that at home, maybe. But not having to lift a finger except to eat exceptional food in a great environment and with my most favorite company, it just doesn't get better than that. I'll be frequenting this establishment more. Go here to refresh your time with loved ones, to meet someone for the first time, to keep your fire burning hot, and to enjoy good food.

2 hr wait from the moment we arrived to the moment my food reached my table. At that I couldn't even enjoy my food. My steak was topped with a literal handful of tasteless, slimy mushrooms that I scooped to the side. It didn't help that my Ribey, which should have been medium rare was all kinds of cooked, I cut into it looking for what I ordered just to find a small section of the center was the way I wanted it, every other section of my steak was either rare or well-done. The mashed potatoes were dry and I didn't even bother touching the vegetables. I'd expected much higher quality for the price they were asking for my plate. Probably the WORST steak/restaurant experience I've ever had, and the first time I walked out of a restaurant with an untouched/unpaid plate.

Came here on a Thursday night with just enough time to order. They close at 10pm but stop serving food at 9pm. Service was fast and friendly and the price was more reasonable than I expected. I ordered the cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and I was pretty impressed. No complaints at all, I actually ended up coming back the next night.

it might have been good or might have bad. the computer system had crashed, the bartender was the waiter and Maitre D as well. however the gentleman was very polite, transparent, gave us a choice to wait an hour for our dinner. we opted out. the restaurant is in the Piccadilly lobby very near Fresno airport. the menu was reasonable most items under 20$. the bar had an extensive selection of spirits.
