About Mr LAU'S STEAK HOUSE - steak house in Fremont, California
Customer Review Summary
Mr. Lau's Steak House offers a unique Taiwanese hot plate experience with a selection of meat, pasta, vegetables, and an egg, accompanied by soup and garlic bread. However, there were significant issues with the cooking of steaks, as requests for well-done meat were not met, leading to dissatisfaction with the service. The waitstaff appeared inexperienced, unable to answer basic menu questions, and there were cleanliness issues in the bathroom. Despite these problems, some customers appreciated the quality of the food, especially the ginger duck soup and the lighter, homestyle hotpot broth. Overall, while the food quality is praised, many customers felt that the shortcomings in service and experience did not justify a return visit.

Taiwanese hot plate restaurant. Interesting concept with choice of meat with pasta, vegetables and an egg. It comes with soup and garlic bread.

They probably changed the owner and chef. We ordered well done filet. They gave us not well done one in whole steak. After talked to waiter, they recooked the same steak and cut it to several small pieces…… I think it is the way they make sure the steak is well done. But it doesn’t make sense to me at all. I have never seen any other place would cut steak before providing to customers. We probably will not visit this restaurant anymore.

Waiter was new and couldn't answer basic questions about the menu. Medium rare steak was well done. Rare steak was well done. Bathroom was out of paper towels. Christmas string lights around the ceiling clashed with the rest of the decor. Food was pretty good, but not worth putting up with the rest.

The food tastes great, especially the soup base in the ginger duck. The portion is also generous for us. The hotpot is on the lighter side, as you can find in others reviews but we really enjoyed!

This is Taiwan style hotpot which is pretty different from other styles of hot pot. The broth is lighter and tastes more homestyle and there are less crazy chemicals in the soup base. The meat and veg feels higher quality than all you can eat spots. I got a set menu and was super full and couldn’t finish it. Great experience

The food here is very good, came here during their soft opening. The meat quality is high and I really enjoyed the dipping sauce.

Feels like home, a Taiwanese style steakhouse. Affordable, saucy, and on the sizzling plate
