Limewood Bar & Restaurant boasts a great location and views, but many reviews indicate a lackluster overall experience. Service issues are frequently mentioned, with servers disappearing or providing slow and unhelpful service. Food quality is inconsistent, with a few standout dishes like grilled whole fish and a burger, but many items were criticized for being bland, overpriced, or poorly prepared. Great location and views, and the food photographs well, but a very middle of the road experience besides those two. Oysters in particular were a miss - bland, as they were drained of their liquor, and we had to ask our server to get one more as only eleven oysters arrived on the platter. Ceviche was nice on a warm day, as was the charcuterie selection. This particular visir we had to ask a *third* server to close us out, as our original server disappeared for the last forty minutes of our visit, and the other server in our section was pleasant but never actually brought the check either.

I went here to celebrate my birthday and the minute we sat you could feel that we are not going to get good service. The waiter seemed angry and had no patience. He didn’t great the table properly, he took the drink order wrong and went we asked for the right drink he didn’t even apologize he just walked away. Every drink we ordered took so long to get to the table. The food was overpriced and tasteless but what ruined my experience the most was the server, for how expensive and beautiful the place is I was expecting the same service I’ve the last 3 times I’ve been there. Honestly I have gotten better customer service from a drive thru at McDonals than this place. Won’t recommend or visit ever again. Waste of money and ruined my Birthday night.

Decent food, some dishes are large portions but quite pricy ...

Grilled whole fish is great, crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Scallops are very fresh and cooked to it’s perfect tenderness. Ordered lamb ribs as appetizer, it was a little dry. Overall the quality of the ingredients are spectacular. However the style of cooking is on a more traditional side, not as exciting and innovative. All dishes are safe choices and delicious, but I expected more surprise with this kind of price range.

This restaurant has an absolutely fantastic view! The food, though, was disappointing. The only good thing that we ordered was the burger, which was quite delicious. I still give it five stars, because the service was excellent. And the view was worth it.

We had brunch at the Limewood bar and restaurant. I had the Signature breakfast and a bloody Mary (it was not tasty or spicy at all) and both are not anything to write home about. In fact, you get some basic breakfast food that is very expensive. You get 4 thin bacon pieces, country potatoes and 2 eggs. $27 for that plate. We had to continually flag our server for things we needed. Sad to say but I probably won't be coming back because 1. its expensive 2. the service is lacking 3. there are better places to go with nicer views!

The ambiance is nice, the customer service was great. The food was just ok. I had the chicken and pancake (subbed pancakes for French toast). I had a mock it tail which was delicious. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back, probably for dinner next time.

My three Bridge friends and I decided to hold annual Christmas lunch on 12.11.2024 at the Limewood Bar and Restaurant at the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley. The expansive view over the Bay was grand and the ambiance was most enjoyable. Sanu, our server was great and went the extra mile for us. But that is where it pretty much ends. The noise in the dinning room was unbearably loud and not conducive to any meaningful conversation and the food, what we had ordered, was disappointing. We ordered a bottle of Italian Prosecco and shared a hummus appetizer, which was utterly tasteless. The luncheon menu consisted mainly of burgers and sandwiches although a few specialty items were offered. Two of us ordered the pasta with butternut squash, one had the crispy rock cod sandwich while the fourth member had the sea bass. The pasta was tasteless, the fish sandwich had more bread and fries than fish and was nothing to rave about. The only person happy was the one with the sea bass. The cappuccino was good. I must acknowledge that the restaurant was gracious enough to take the hummus off our bill because we had mentioned our disappointment to Sanu. Additionally, we had to pay for parking on top of a very disappointing lunch. M. Nemeth Danville, CA
