About Stockyard Grill - steak house in Montgomery, Alabama
Weekday, lunch joint featuring burgers, fish 'n' chips & other casual grub in a down-home ambiance.
Customer Review Summary
Stockyard Grill has an authentic, casual atmosphere appreciated by locals. The food, particularly steak hamburgers and the Dam sandwich, is praised for its freshness and quality, with reasonable pricing. However, long wait times during peak hours are common, and ordering steak one level down in rareness is recommended. While the staff work hard to manage the busy environment, some reviews mention rude service experiences. Most meals are served efficiently and include dessert, though side dishes may be underwhelming. General consensus suggests delicious food but highlights a need for improved hospitality. Overall, it’s a popular spot with a loyal local following, making it worth a visit despite occasional service issues.

Atmosphere is not elegant by any means but it is 100% authentic Stockyard hard-working people. Steak hamburgers as fresh as you ever going to find

Great little restaurant with great food. The food was great and whats even more was the value. It gets packed real quick, and line forms but staffs work hard to get the line going fast. Definitely recommend!

Long wait times during lunch hours are guaranteed. Steak was delicious, but make sure to order one or two levels down, in terms of rareness (ie. I ordered my steak rare, but it came out close to medium). The sides are nothing to write home about, but the pricing of everything was reasonable and the servers were helpful and attentive.

Homestyle cooking where the locals eat. The restaurant will remain in place now that the stockyard out back has been sold. In case there is a waiting list upon arrival, feel free to sign in. Meal options include the daily special or order from the menu. Food is served efficiently and also comes with dessert. I ordered veggie plate meal which was fresh and the service is always friendly.

Amazing food, but terribly rude staff. When checking an incorrect order on multiple drinks, the young cashier states, “just take it and go.” One of the waitresses informed, “step out of the way where the food runners walk” while waiting in line. If that wasn’t enough, I was barked at for walking around looking for a restroom when there were no signs in sight. Great food, but not worth the lack of hospitality. The saddest part is that it was take out, not even a full visit at a table.

Great place for some delicious food stockyard style. The Dam sandwich is a must and it is damn good!!! This place makes you feel at home!

The name is fitting for this interesting place. It is literally a stockyards / auction entrance, with your first option to be food. I assume this is to make it convenient for the farmers and buyers to get a quick bite while taking care of business at the same time. You can literally eat your meal and walk 30-50ft farther to buy or sell your cattle. Place was busy and with a lot of regular locals. You could tell because everyone seemed to know everyone. We got some tots to share and then the meatloaf and chicken strip basket. Fries and tots and chicken strips were pretty good. Meatloaf was pretty good as well. The green beans tasted like they came out of a bulk can. Edible but not great. Over all, was a pretty good little meal, but nothing I’d tell people they needed to try. For us, it was a standard diner that was an interesting choice due to the stockyards being attached, and it had decent reviews. We would certainly have no problem trying it again, but at the same time, would be perfectly happy trying another decent rated place as well. Staff was friendly and helpful. They were a little busy to keep up, but at the same time, everyone is understaffed these days.

Looked up this place after landing in Montgomery via airport. Great food, service, and history. No need to add A1 to their steak. It's delicious on its own! I got the Dam Sandwich
